The candidate who is hired for this part-time position will be required to supervise in San Diego, California. This is not a virtual or online course.  Only candidates that are able to supervise in this specific area/location should apply. 


The College of Education is seeking candidates to supervise and evaluate student teachers and/or administrative internship candidates in the field. The University Supervisor serves as a liaison between the education candidate, on-site mentor, and University personnel. University supervisors observe and evaluate local education candidates for effective practices and dispositions toward educational administration and/or K-12 teaching positions. University Supervisors work on a temporary, part-time basis that depends on need and availability in a given local geographical area.


University Supervisors will be compensated for the evaluation and supervision of education candidates with University of Phoenix. Mon-Fri during regular school hours to conduct observations/evaluations. Evenings/weekends to answer questions from the education candidate and cooperating teacher/mentor as well as to offer support/feedback. 

  • Supervising student teachers and/or administrative interns on site in schools on an as-needed basis

  • Maintaining written records of the assigned intern’s progress

  • Conducting regular observations, interviews, and evaluations of education candidates during placement and discussing observations with the candidates

  • Providing written evaluations related to the candidate’s performance and posting to designated University platforms

  • Ability to travel to specified site locations

  • Assigning midterm and final practicum grades, in collaboration with the site mentor

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Master’s degree or higher in an Educational field OR Master’s degree in any area with 18 graduate level credits focused in Education  OR
    • Must have a minimum of 5 years of applicable professional experience in the K-12 setting with a minimum of 2 years of current applicable experience, some of which must have been within the last 5 years 
  • Master’s degree or higher in any area
    • Must have a minimum of 5 years of applicable professional experience in the K-12 setting with a minimum of 3 years of current applicable experience, some of which must have been within the last 5 years.

REQUIRED CALIFORNIA CREDENTIALS:

  • Current (or evidence of a retired) K-12 certification in one or more of the following: Elementary, secondary, early childhood, special education, or Principal.
  • Requires current California teaching certification
  • Requires California residency, and experience in a CA public school within the last 3 years.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year of supervisory or coaching experience in a K-12 environment.

ADDITIONAL CLARIFICATIONS:

  • Degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution..
  • NOTE: A license that has been revoked or suspended will not be acceptable for this requirement.
  • Acceptable professional positions can include are not limited to: Classroom Teacher in a K-12 environment, Curriculum/Program Developers or Specialists, Principal, Assistant Principal, Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and/or a UOPX Local or Central College of education Administrator.
  • CURRENCY: Extended through: 1) Student Teacher Supervisor experience for K-12 student populations, or 2) Teaching for faculty with a Doctorate or Master’s in education.

Pay Range


For all states except CA, the pay range for this position is on a per course basis, and is between $1035 and $3686.
