  • As a faculty member you’ll be challenged with adding your professional expertise to instruct a  curriculum which is centrally developed with specific learning objectives.

  • Serve as a faculty teaching within the program curricula for online; effectively use a mentor/coach approach to build productive educational relationships with students.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining the quality and integrity of the College of Doctoral Studies, including the development and implementation of program goals and program integrity; 

  • Apply flexibility and creativity in meeting student needs, ensuring availability to students, responding to student issues and concerns, as needed, inside and outside of the classroom, based on the learning environment and according to University policy and instructional standards. 

  • Maintain a flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends, to support student development and progression; hold open office hours to accommodate student development and progression. 

  • Utilize classroom learning system technology (provided by university), the Internet, and Microsoft Office software.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Doctorate in Organizational Behavior or a related degree OR 
  • Doctorate in Business and 15 graduate semester credits in Organizational Behavior or a related degree OR a Doctorate in any area and 18 graduate semester credits in Organizational Behavior or a related degree OR 
  • Doctorate in Business and 2 years of professional experience in Organizational Behavior or a related field OR a Doctorate in any area and 5 years of professional experience in Organizational Behavior or a related field.
    • Related fields can include but are not limited to: Business, Cultural or Social Anthropology, Human Resources, Industrial-Organizational Psychology (I/O Psych), Leadership, Organizational Change Management, Organizational Cultural Resources, Organizational Development, Organizational Learning and Training, or Personnel Management.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution 
  • Complete the self-guided Dissertation Chair Training Refresher (DCTR) annually. 
  • Must have record of research and scholarly activity 

  • All candidates must have 2 years of relevant professional experience within the last 5 years. Professional work experience, consulting, or college level teaching directly related to the content area can be used to meet this currency requirement.
  • SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENT: All faculty members must have one record of scholarship within the last five years that meets UOPX’s definition of scholarship engagement. Faculty who do not have DCTR or graduate scholarship on file may still qualify; however, they have one year from the date the content area is approved to come into compliance with these requirements to maintain the content area approval.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proven experience as a scholar, practitioner, leader in one of the industries relative to our doctoral degree program

  • Able to convey a professional image and effectively represent the organization as appropriate in its relationship with the community as well as in all professional social media profiles such as LinkedIn

  • Experience working in higher education with a diverse, multi-disciplinary group of doctoral students 

  • Knowledge of adult education principles/practices, curriculum development and academic content area

  • High level of problem solving and decision-making abilities to respond to student issues and concerns, evaluate students for retention, assess student work and abilities and facilitate the doctoral learning experience

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies, including students, faculty, employees and external parties

  • Proven ability to promote student learning success in doctoral studies in the areas of writing, critical thinking, and research

  • Familiarity with adult educational experience and in the retention motivation of adult learners
