Hardware Advisor

Job Summary:
This position is designed for an individual that has demonstrated an understanding of door, frame, hardware, and electronic access controls products and their applications.
In this role, you will:
- Advise Architects on optimal door and door hardware applications that meet functionality and budgetary requirements
- Assist Architects and Sales with specifying Kawneer product and hardware applications
- Assemble Architectural Submittal packages
- Interact with Kawneer Sales and Estimating departments for pricing of door and door hardware
- Familiarity with commercial building codes
- Knowledgeable with architectural plans and shop drawings / installation instructions as required for each project application, including reviewing/correcting door and door hardware information on shop drawings.
- Interact and coordinate with door hardware suppliers including securing outside hardware pricing and ordering.
- Help maintain date management against customer order schedules, and work with vendors / customers to achieve alternate solutions to meet installation demands
- Familiar with and maintaining knowledge hardware products, specifically those that interact with doors and door hardware.
- Stay well versed on updates from Hardware vendors, building codes, and hardware standards.
- Ability to train on the handling, function, assembly, testing, and installation of mechanical and electrical door hardware.
- Ability to work and train in a shop floor environment and amongst mobile equipment (applicant will not be operating mobile equipment)

Also note:
- Strong initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to understand electrified hardware
- Intermediate or advanced ability for spec writing and interpretation
- Basic knowledge of door access control products
- Intermediate or advanced understanding of building codes and standards
- Coach and display leadership, recognize opportunities and proactively initiate and execute actions to support the company's business plans
- Demonstrated communication skills - written and verbal / phone / Microsoft Teams
- Demonstrated customer relationship skills
- Computer skills, including ability to navigate intranet, internet resources (research products)
- Demonstrated organizational / time management skills
- Adhering and modeling the company vision, mission, and safety goals
- Ability to understand building codes, standards, Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, hurricane impact, blast and keep up with updates as it relates to doors and door hardware.
- Read and interpret architectural plans and installation instructions
You have:
- High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution
- Two years’ experience in Estimating or Door Take-off or equivalent experience with another commercial door and door hardware supplier.
- Experience with AutoCad or comparable Wiring Diagram schematic software
- Ability to travel and attend 2-3 Commercial Construction Expos per year and self promote one’s services and team services
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two- or Four-year College Degree or 3 years industry experience in Commercial doors and door hardware.
- Recognized Door Hardware Institute certifications (Access Control System Consultant (ACSC); Door Hardware Specification Consultant (DHSC), or Door Hardware Consultant (DHT)
- Legacy DHI certifications are also preferrable including EHC (Electrified Hardware Consultant), CDC (Certified Door Consultant), or AOC (Architectural Opening Consultant)
Salary: $75,000 - $85,000
