Maintenance Supervisor

Tenneco Frankfort, IN (Onsite) Full-Time

The Maintenance Supervisor manages a team of maintenance technicians and is responsible for preventative maintenance, new installations, modifications and repairs are performed on facility and manufacturing equipment. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager and is responsible for directing and providing the necessary support required to maintain the plant and equipment to ensure the continuous, efficient, and safe production operations.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities of Maintenance Supervisor:

  • Manage maintenance staff, including recommendations for hire/termination, evaluation, coaching, training, and discipline
  • Manage predictive and preventative maintenance programs, schedules and record keeping of all facility and manufacturing equipment
  • Respond to customer generated work requests; prioritize, schedule, assign work to staff, and manage computerized maintenance system with work orders, asset details, and spare parts
  • Controls a preventive maintenance program to maintain all equipment and facilties assets in proper working condition.
  • Responsible to ensure that all maintenance work is completed adhering to all applicable codes and standards
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations as related to facilities and all maintenance tasks
  • Recommend and implement Continuous Improvement principles for Preventative Maintenance programs, Supply Crib parts inventory, and day to day maintenance operations
  • Manage time and attendance for assigned hourly employees as well as complete all employee reviews accurately and on time
  • Respond to all emergency situations quickly (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.)
  • Use tools, meters, testing equipment, and root cause analysis tools to guide and teach effective problem solving to maintenance staff
  • Champion training and improvements in utilizing people’s skills and talents to best benefit business needs and employee motivation
  • Develop and maintain maintenance procedures compliant with IATF 16949 and applicable Customer Specific Requirements
  • Coordinate maintenance efforts with outside contractors with internal parties (Managers, maintenance staff, purchasing, finance, engineering, and operations)
  • Develop specifications and manage maintenance and repair service contracts on equipment
  • Day shift role but responsible for all 3 shifts. 
  • Each employee has the authority to initiate action to prevent a violation of the Tenneco Integrity Policy.
  • All employees will abide by the plant’s safety policy, comply with the legal and other requirements and operational controls established, work toward achieving established objectives and targets, and conform to procedures consistent with the ISO 14001 standard.  An employee should report, and if necessary stop, any activity that does not conform to the policy or may injure himself/herself.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Required

  • High School Diploma with additional technical training and supervisory experience.  Minimum of 3-5 of experience in a maintenance operations environment
  • License in mechanical/electrical trade is an asset
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in a leadership role in an industrial environment
  • Proven track record as a leader, demonstrating positive influence and accomplishments in influencing safety, environmental, quality, productivity and people development
  • Knowledgeable in the areas of electrical, mechanical, PLC programming, and hydraulics
  • Proven communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of OSHA/safety guidelines, procedures, and policies related to maintenance and repair
  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects through to completion.
  • Experience participating in World Class Manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives is considered an asset
  • Relevant experience in a maintenance role, license in mechanical/electrical trade is an asset
  • Experience working in the automotive industry is an asset
