Cloud FinOps and TBM Analyst

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Cloud FinOps and Technology Business Management (TBM) Analyst to join our team. This role is responsible for optimizing cloud financial performance, ensuring cost transparency, and driving strategic financial and technological decisions through effective TBM frameworks. The ideal candidate will work closely with finance, engineering, and cloud operations teams to manage cloud costs, provide insights into cloud usage, and implement cost-saving initiatives that align with business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cloud Financial Management:

    • Track and analyze cloud spend across multiple cloud providers (e.g., AWS, GCP) using FinOps best practices.

    • Ensure cost allocation accuracy and provide cloud cost visibility to various stakeholders.

    • Implement and manage cloud cost monitoring tools, such as Cloudability, AWS Cost Explorer, or equivalent platforms.

  • Optimization Initiatives:

    • Identify savings opportunities through rightsizing, commitment-based purchasing (e.g., Reserved Instances), and resource utilization optimizations.

    • Collaborate with teams on the planning and implementation of cost-saving actions and monitor the success of these initiatives.

  • Technology Business Management (TBM):

    • Support the development and management of TBM frameworks to measure, manage, and optimize the cost and value of IT services.

    • Build TBM models to align cloud spending with business units, applications, and products.

    • Provide regular reporting and dashboards to senior management, showing the financial impact of cloud usage and performance.

  • Cost Forecasting & Budgeting:

    • Partner with Finance and Cloud Operations to develop accurate cloud spend forecasts and budgets.

    • Manage variance analysis between budgeted vs. actual spend and provide recommendations to improve forecasting accuracy.

  • Cloud Vendor Management:

    • Work with cloud service providers to understand cost structures, negotiate pricing, and manage billing disputes.

    • Stay informed on new cloud service offerings and pricing changes to capitalize on savings opportunities.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration:

    • Serve as a bridge between engineering, finance, procurement, and operations teams to ensure alignment on cloud cost management strategies.

    • Develop and deliver training sessions for internal teams on FinOps principles and cloud cost optimization.

  • Reporting & Analytics:

    • Create and maintain detailed financial reports and KPIs related to cloud cost, usage, and savings.

    • Provide detailed financial analysis and recommendations to drive business decisions related to cloud investments.

Requirements:

  • Basic Understanding of Cloud and FinOps - Familiarity with public cloud platforms (specifically AWS and GCP) and foundational knowledge of cloud cost management and Finops principles (e.g. cost allocation, budgeting, optimization strategies)

  • Analytical and Reporting Skills - Ability to analyze cloud cost and usage data, interpret trends, and create basic reports or dashboard using spreadsheets or tools like Looker

  • Financial Acumen - Basic understanding of financial concepts such as budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, with a willingness to learn how these apply to cloud costs and TBM frameworks.

  • Collaboration and Communication - Strong communication and problem solving-skills, with the ability to work with finance, engineering, and operations teams to support cloud cost governance efforts

  • Eagerness to Learn and Adapt - Enthusiasm for developing expertise in cloud governance, FinOps, and TBM methodologies, with a proactive attitude toward gaining hands-on experience in cloud and TBM financial tools (e.g. Cloudability, Apptio, AWS Cost Explorer, GCP Billing).
