SVP Retail Distribution & Sales Enablement

Purpose:
The SVP Retail Distribution & Sales Enablement, oversees the goal-setting process of all levels of the sales organization and will use data and technology to measure and monitor sales processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
This role will have joint responsibility with the EVP of Sales for the strategy and execution of building new channel growth opportunities to include the creation of business and financial plans; collaborating with sales operations and partnering with the sales leadership team to drive profitable distributor growth. The position requires excellent leadership skills; business and financial acumen.
Accountabilities:
Identify, analyze, and assist in the development of new growth market opportunities
- Build strong partnerships with Finance, Actuarial, Marketing, Operations and other cross-functional units to ensure translation of sales distribution needs into prioritized actions, KPIs and execution of plans
- Oversee productivity analysis: design of view and delivery; sales productivity reports-to include market share; account penetration/growth; new producers; cross-sell success; retention strategies and related programs
- Create a sales operations roadmap in partnership with key cross-functional leaders to ensure our infrastructure, tools, and processes evolve to deliver a positive producer experience
- Partner with Human Resources and Finance on compensation design, analysis, and preparing materials for Compensation Committee meetings
Maximize the productivity and impact of current SEL programs; own development and execution of a comprehensive sales enablement strategy aligned with the sales plan
- Design, implement, and optimize the sales enablement strategy, programs, and resources across the distribution organization; to include consolidated prioritization of channel needs/resources, planning and assuring clear and consistent communication between channels
- Responsible for leading the sales enablement strategy to ensure our sales team is prepared, motivated, and engaged to drive the highest performance levels
- Own strategic alignment between Sales and Marketing (prioritization, direction, and execution of resources); implementation of tools and content
- Leverage technology, roll out and drive utilization of innovative learning tools, evolving sales techniques and learning development approaches to continuously upskill talent
Qualifications and Experience:
- Knowledge of financial products, including Fixed Indexed Annuities, Registering Index Linked Annuities, Variable Annuities, and Fixed Annuities
- 15+ years of experience in the financial services industry in sales strategy, operations, and enablement and a bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or finance preferred
- FINRA Series 6 License required, Series 24 or 26 preferred
- Ability to regularly be present in the Athene office in West Des Moines, Iowa, 75% of the time while also maintaining a presence in significant industry conferences
- Outstanding problem-solving skills, public speaking skills, exceptional writing skills as well as strong technical skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Salesforce
- Strong stakeholder partnership across key leadership roles, including but not limited to regional engagement, field operations, product, and marketing
- Strong analytical and reporting skills and proven experience building a culture of data-driven decision-making, action, and delivery
- Proven executive presence, strategic capabilities, influential leadership, effective collaborator, and superior influencing skills
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to manage stakeholders effectively at all levels within the organization
- Ability to envision the “big picture” and to think creatively

Annual Salary for this role is market competitive. Actual salary for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Depending on the role, a discretionary bonus plan or variable sales incentive may be included.
