Controls Technician

Tenneco Litchfield, MI (Onsite) Full-Time

JOB TITLE: Controls Technician

SUBFUNCTION: Manufacturing

REPORTS TO: Engineering Supervisor/ Engineering Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

This position will lead new controls/plant automation projects, champion Best Methods teams, and standardization processes. It will also provide support to all areas (Engineering – advanced, program, or development, Manufacturing, Commercial, Quality, etc.) where controls engineering expertise is required, including launch support and customer initiatives.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to and/or lead Advanced Engineering projects to develop new and/or improved processes and innovations to provide value for Tenneco.
  • Support Operations by troubleshooting, maintaining, and programming Plant Automation.
  • Fulfill EMSEC Technician role by championing and supporting Tenneco Machine Safety Standard policies and procedures.
  • Complete TMSS machine risk assessments per the TMSS guidelines and templates.
  • Create software requirements documentation, contribute to software peer reviews, conduct software unit testing and participate in software validation requirements definition.
  • Attend training sessions, seminars, and conferences to expand job knowledge and skills and network with professional colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
  • Responsible for programming and designing PLC controls for new equipment.
  • Project Management on new automation projects.
  • Perform and lead new product analysis and predictive tools and evaluation techniques.
  • Develop and maintain requirements books and best practices library, yielding work instructions, design guidelines, process flows, and standardization techniques.
  • Data collection from Plant Automation
  • Ability to travel in support of job functions.
  • Overtime as required/requested.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent education, college degree.
  • Two to five years’ experience in manufacturing, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Good computer skills/communication skills
  • Above average structured problem-solving techniques and documentation skills
  • A team player who is results driven, able to work under pressure, has strong leadership skills, high energy, strong organizational skills, is empathetic and able to deal with issues in an open, honest manner.
  • Must be willing and able to work any shift.

  • Stand in place for long periods of time and use dexterity of hands to handle and feel materials.
