Software Engineer

A Little Bit About Us - The Data and Common Services (DCS) team within the Yahoo Advertising Engineering organization is responsible for the Advertising core data infrastructure and services that provide common, horizontal services for user and contextual targeting, privacy and analytics. We are looking for a talented ML engineer to join the modeling and scoring team. As a member of the team, you will be helping our Ad platforms to deliver highly accurate and relevant Advertising experiences for our consumers and for the web at large scale using AI technologies. 

Responsibilities

  • Work with data scientists and product teams to understand and address end to end requirements for the purpose of prototype development as well as production software development;

  • Build large scale distributed machine learning architecture on public and private clouds; 

  • Perform large scale machine learning operations including feature engineering, model tuning, model deployment and performance monitoring.

  • Utilizes experience with distributed file systems, database architecture, and data modeling to organize and process large data sets;

  • Build streaming platform by leveraging latest streaming technologies to support research and production needs;

  • Identify potential performance bottlenecks and scalability issues to justify or critique the design of new algorithms; 

  • Work with modern development methodology such as Agile, Scrum, Test Driven Development and SDLC

Minimum Qualifications 

  • M.S. Computer Science or Engineering or B.S. of related fields;

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, intellectually challenging and highly technical environment;

  • Strong programming skills in Java/Python/Spark Scala/SQL; 

  • Good knowledge and experience with big data technologies including Hadoop/Hive/Spark/Flink is highly desirable;

  • Good knowledge of machine learning including feature engineering, decision trees, MLPs, logistic regression, transformer (BERT/GPT) is highly desirable; 

  • Experience with building robust, scalable, distributed services; 

  • Experience with massively scalable messaging and distributed real-time processing;

  • Experience with AWS and AWS SageMaker is highly desirable;

  • Experience in all aspects of software development including architecture and design, implementation and production support; 

  • Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps tools and processes; 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
