Senior Manager, Yield & Strategy
About the Role
We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic Senior Manager, Yield & Strategy to optimize revenue across Yahoo News’ advertising business. This role will be responsible for enhancing monetization through data-driven analysis, optimizing ad placements, and balancing revenue growth with user experience across primarily programmatic advertising, but also direct sales, and other revenue channels.
This role requires strong analytical skills, cross-functional collaboration, and an ownership mindset to drive revenue and efficiency in a dynamic ad tech and media environment.
Key Responsibilities
Optimize revenue and yield by continuously analyzing, testing, and refining ad placements, KPIs, and inventory allocation across direct and programmatic channels.
Develop and implement data-driven processes to maximize CPMs, fill rates, and overall ad performance.
Own the yield optimization roadmap, collaborating with product, sales, and marketing teams to align monetization strategies with broader business objectives.
Manage and refine internal documentation to streamline ad operations and analysis as well as share regular findings with executive and leadership teams across the company.
Analyze programmatic demand partner performance, providing insights to adjust inventory allocation and capitalize on revenue opportunities.
Work with centralized Yahoo platform teams to monitor ad performance, implement optimizations, and iterate on our ad products for improved monetization.
Ensure a quality ad experience by balancing revenue-driven strategies with user experience and brand objectives and the product stakeholders for Yahoo’s various surface experiences.
Leverage Looker and other analytics tools to create dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights for internal stakeholders.
Stay ahead of industry trends and evolving ad tech innovations to continuously refine and enhance monetization strategies.
Required Qualifications
At least 6-10 years of experience in digital advertising, ad operations, or programmatic yield management.
Expertise in Looker, GAM, and with programmatic auction dynamics.
Proven experience in ad inventory management, revenue analysis, and revenue forecasting.
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to work across sales, product, and marketing teams.
Deep understanding of ad tech, martech, and digital media (direct and programmatic).
Ability to interpret complex ad performance data and make real-time optimizations to maximize revenue.
Excellent communication skills, capable of working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and leadership teams
Ownership mentality with a track record of creative problem-solving and decision-making in a high-growth environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in programmatic advertising, yield management, or digital media within a publishing or media environment.
Knowledge of JavaScript, SQL, or HTML5 for enhanced analytics and reporting.
Expertise in inventory management, programmatic auction dynamics (open exchange, PMP, direct deals)
Familiarity with omni-channel marketing and data-driven monetization strategies.

) page to learn more.The compensation for this position ranges from $122,250.00 - $255,000.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
