As an Art Director, you will lead the creative vision for editorial visuals, driving innovation and ensuring excellence in design execution across all platforms. This role is pivotal in shaping the Yahoo News aesthetic while guiding the Visuals team to strategically apply Yahoo’s new brand guidelines. Responsibilities
Creative leadership:
Define and uphold the Yahoo News creative vision, elevating visual storytelling across all editorial channels.
Establish and maintain high design standards while innovating within Yahoo’s new brand guidelines.
Conceptualize and execute compelling designs for Yahoo News, Entertainment, Life, Commerce, Newsletters, and Social platforms.
Drive the creative development of franchise formats, carousels, and multimedia packages that push the boundaries of design.
Collaborate with the team to reimagine editorial and sponsored experiences for key moments and events (e.g., Golden Globes, Oscars, Black Friday).
Collaboration and communication:
Partner with cross-functional leaders, including editorial leads, photo editors and project managers, to align visuals with overarching project goals.
Mentor and inspire designers, fostering growth and encouraging bold, innovative thinking.
Provide thoughtful feedback to designers and freelancers, ensuring consistency and alignment with creative objectives.
Lead brainstorming sessions to explore new ways to enhance Yahoo News’ visual identity and presence.
Team leadership:
Oversee creative workflows, ensuring deliverables are completed on time and to the highest standard.
Adapt swiftly to evolving priorities, including breaking news and trending stories.
Communicate clear project timelines, goals, and feedback with all stakeholders.
Develop and implement scalable solutions, such as design templates and creative playbooks, to optimize efficiency across the team.
Research emerging design trends, tools, and techniques to keep Yahoo News visuals at the forefront of industry standards.
Qualifications:
Proven experience performing at an Art Director level, with a portfolio showcasing exceptional storytelling, design, and leadership capabilities.
Expertise in brand systems, with a track record of interpreting and applying brand guidelines in innovative ways.
Strong ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with experience mentoring and guiding design teams.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and other design tools; familiarity with animation or motion graphics is a plus.
Deep understanding of digital platforms, including social media, newsletters, and multimedia content.
A passion for news, design, and creating impactful visuals that inform and engage.

) page to learn more.The compensation for this position ranges from $120,750.00 - $251,250.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
