Shipping & Receiving Clerk 2nd Shift
I. PURPOSE/SUMMARY
Verifies, keeps records and prepares loads for outbound / inbound shipments by performing the following duties to load and unload shipments. Pay Rate $27.50
II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices / commercial invoices, customer orders, customer deliveries, and other records to determine shipping / receiving priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping / receiving schedules.
Prepares outgoing shipping activities / documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper condition of shipments.
Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded boxcars, trailer doors, and sea containers.
Follows all OSHA / Tenneco Safety Protocols for Shipping, Receiving, Dock Safety, PIV Safety, and Life Saving Elements, as well as any other Tenneco required Safety Protocols such as PPE.
Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies Group Leader / Maintenance personnel for repair.
Ensures movement of shipments from shipping and platform to storage and work areas.
Compiles records of unfilled orders.
Prepares all required documentation for outgoing shipments.
Issues written and oral instructions to all involved parties.
Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency.
Other duties may be assigned.
A. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
B. SKILL/CHARACTERISTICS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
