Sr. Litigation Paralegal

Lifetouch is looking for a talented, experienced, and highly organized Sr. Litigation Paralegal. This role will report to the Assistant General Counsel for employment law and litigation. In this role you will coordinate the day-to-day operations of litigation work at Lifetouch, provide tactical support to the Lifetouch legal team as needed, and assist with certain legal operations support to the broader Shutterfly legal team. You will work closely with other members in the department, cross-functionally with HR, finance, and other parts of the Lifetouch business, and with outside counsel. You will manage all administrative aspects of litigation for Lifetouch, as well as parts of internal investigations and compliance. You will also contribute to certain parts of legal operations, such as outside counsel billing. The ideal candidate will bring both targeted litigation paralegal experience and enthusiasm for diving in, helping where needed, and being a leader in the department.
What You’ll Do Here:
• Coordinate all aspects of litigation, including intake, insurance notification, creating and maintaining case files, tracking matters and important dates, coordinating with in house attorneys and outside counsel, gathering documents and responding to opposing counsel or filing documents with the court.
• Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documents are up-to-date and easily accessible.
• Work with teams across the business to gather relevant information for cases.
• Manage ethics and compliance system, monitor intake, assign investigations to individuals, and track progress.
• Monitor inboxes to track and take action on incoming claims, subpoenas, and other time-sensitive matters.
• Research and create reporting on litigation matters, outside counsel spend, and other legal department work.
• Draft legal documents when needed, including pleadings, motions, affidavits, and subpoenas.
• File documents with courts and other entities and ensure compliance with legal procedures.
• Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions.
• Assist in the preparation of presentations, exhibits, and other documents.
• Maintain and update litigation databases and case management systems.
• Summarize documents, depositions, interrogatories, and testimony.
• Perform administrative tasks as needed to support the legal team, such as scheduling appointments, maintaining calendars, managing correspondence, and helping to plan department meetings and events.
We want you to be successful, so you will need to have:
• Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a paralegal supporting litigation teams
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills – you are able to keep track of and take action on multiple workstreams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills – you are able to reach out to, work with, and communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization as well as opposing counsel, individual litigants, and courts
• Strong technical skills – you are able to learn and use different software systems such as e-billing and case management
• Strong knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, documentation, and strategy
• A responsive, flexible, and collaborative “dive in and get it done” attitude
• Ability to adapt to multiple and changing demands and juggle different priorities
• Capacity to multi-task and handle unanticipated situations and effectively work under pressure
• A high level of professionalism and confidentiality, with good judgment and sound decision making
We Would Love It If You Also:
• Have paralegal experience in an in-house environment
• Have experience with case management, legal hold, and billing systems
• Have legal operations experience, such as doing reporting, helping to manage legal spend, and helping to manage legal technology
This role is hybrid in-office at our Eden Prairie, MN office.
