Product Engineer II

Responsibilities:
- Manages process of application specific engineered solutions from initial customer interaction to full production launch. Functions as program manager as well as design engineer for many of these programs.
- Manages a portfolio projects and responsibilities; utilizes other team members to ensure all are completed to meet business requirements.
- Supports application engineers and sales team with technical support for end customers (OEMs, Tier 1’s) including direct customer engineering interface. Technical support includes product knowledge, design details, CAD data exchange.
- Creates product designs and specifications in conjunction with Research and Development. Ensures new products are designed to meet customer expectations.
- Analyze customer inputs and design product modifications to meet customer expectations.
- Works with manufacturing and process engineering to ensure new products can fabricated reliably.
- Interfaces with Purchasing and various suppliers to implement recommendations resulting in cost improvement and supplier diversification. Coordinates validation efforts for such projects.
- Reviews and implements engineering changes to product drawings and material specifications.
- Support the company’s APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) process to maximize the success of developing and tracking a product or process through its development life cycle.
- Provide product engineering and technical support for assigned product lines after transitioning to manufacturing. This includes drawing and raw material specification approvals.
- May include quality, manufacturing and other areas of support to the Americas regions operations.
- Capable of providing support as requested by supervisor.
Education:
- BS Engineering (Preferably Mechanical or Textile)
Experience:
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in engineering environment with preference on prior Product Engineering experience. Experience in automotive component design is a plus.
- CAD experience is required. Experience in translation of 3D to 2D is a considerable plus. Experience in OEM dataexchange is preferred.
- Prior experience in leading and managing projects and programs is required.
- Outstanding inter-personal skills and a demonstrated ability to work with all levels, departments, and operations of the company
- Excellent communication, technical writing skills
- Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail in execution of engineering deliverables
- Ability to accept, understand and resolve conflict or disagreement
- Self directed and have a passion for results
- MS project experience preferred
- Ability to travel frequently if needed
- Knowledge of a second language, Spanish, French, German, Japanese or Chinese is helpful
