Sr. Marketing Planning Specialist I

Shutterfly Durham, NC (Onsite) Full-Time

Position Overview:

The Marketing Analyst and Planner plays a crucial role in shaping marketing strategies by developing the Channel Execution Plan—working cross-functionally to help Marketing, Product, and Channel Managers leverage insights to make data-driven decisions to enhance marketing effectiveness. This position will rigorously analyze KPIs such as traffic, conversion rate (CVR), AOV, spend, as well as customer and engagement metrics to compare performance against plan, forecast and latest estimates and set daily, weekly, and monthly marketing channel expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Analysis and Reporting
    • Collect and analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can drive business decision-making.
    • Partner with internal Data Team to assist in creating data models and defining data requirements for reporting and analytics.
    • Create visualizations and reports using tools like Excel, Looker, or Power BI to convey insights on an ongoing basis.
    • Prepare reports on trends and performance against plan for presentation to senior management and other stakeholders as required.
    • Prepare and present monthly documentation and post-season takeaways.

  • Pre-Season Channel Planning
      • Develop quarterly Marketing Channel Execution Plan at a daily level for Wallpaper, Fabric, and Trade business lines, as well as an all-up view utilizing collected data and insights.
      • Ensure alignment of KPIs to Category and Demand Plans—including, but not limited to: Spend, Traffic, New/Existing Customer Counts, Order Counts, Conversion Rate (CVR), Revenue, Gross Profit, AOV, ROAS and MOAS.
      • Collaborate with Category, Marketing, and Channel Managers to understand market trends and consumer behavior, along with price and promo strategies identified by category managers.  
      • Collaborate with product managers to understand major website changes and plan accordingly.  
      • Prepare and publish Plan for quarterly submission and working team utilization.
  • In-Season Channel Planning
      • Monitor and adjust Plan based on in-season trends and performance.  
      • Maintain and update a daily dashboard to track key metrics and performance indicators.
      • Identify and communicate risks and opportunities by category and channel for further investigation by Channel Leads in service of Marketing Managers’ plans and goals.  
      • Ad hoc data analysis as required.  

 Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in marketing analysis or planning.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, driven by curiosity and an aptitude for digging deep to unearth patterns and generate business solutions.
  • Experience with analytics, campaign management and ad serving technologies, such as Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Google Ads, Bing, etc…
  • Deep knowledge of paid search, display advertising, SEO, social media advertising, and email/SMS marketing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with project management tools, data visualization tools, and Business Intelligence software.
  • Understanding of database management systems, SQL, and statistical analysis.
  • Detail-oriented is a must, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
