Lean Manufacturing Specialist
Arconic is currently in search of a Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement Specialist, internally known as an Arconic Business Systems Specialist (ABS), to join our RPNA business unit in Alcoa, TN.

The main purpose of this position is to deploy, teach, coach and drive continuous improvement through partnership with employees from various functions across Arconic Tennessee Operations, by eliminating all types of waste and application of the Arconic Business System stability tools.
Responsibilities:
- Take a proactive role in promoting and practicing Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement concepts and philosophies within his/her span of control and responsibility.
- Acts as a Lean Manufacturing resource in assigned areas to:
- Proactively assist and participate in identifying all types of waste by advocating, coaching, practicing and leading the implementation of various Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement techniques.
- Assist in collecting data, preparing and developing improvement projects at the Plant and department/area levels.
- Coach and work together with organization leaders in sustaining and utilizing Lean Manufacturing and other continuous improvement systems.
- Proactively assist in leading and maintaining central Lean Manufacturing systems.
- Assist in sharing learnings between the areas within the plant, and transferring knowledge from other sites within and outside of the BU.
- Actively participate in teaching and coaching the rest of the plant in continuous improvement training programs.
The Lean Manufacturing Specialist tasks are directly connected to the financial gains that are expected from continuous improvement projects. As such, they will proactively advocate and participate in raising project ideas which formally measure the impact of “growth” improvement activities. Furthermore, they will assist and participate in identifying cost reduction and capital expenditure opportunities in all areas of the plant where he/she works.
Critical Competencies
- Understanding the ABS principles, Waste Elimination and Continuous Improvement activities or projects
- Experience with one or more of the following techniques: Kaizen, 5S, Problem Solving Techniques, Standardized Work, and Total Productive Maintenance.
- Basic computer skills with intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Power Point, and analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge and understanding of a manufacturing environment

Basic Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in a Technical Field, Science or Business Administration (at time of hire), plus 3 years of experience in Continuous Improvement or Lean Manufacturing roles in a manufacturing environment.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science or Business Administration (at time of hire) plus 3 to 6 months exposure to manufacturing, manufacturing support or engineering environment. A Minimum of 2 years of experience with Microsoft Office software (power point, excel, and word)
- Ability to teach and coach others
- Flexibility and willingness to work at different areas at various times

- Ability to work in teams
- Demonstrated problem solving capacity and ability to teach Lean Manufacturing tools
