ABOUT THE JOB - APPLICATION ENGINEER - VALVES
Location: Houston, Westplain Campus
Work Environment: Monday – Friday
Work Schedule/Hours: Normal Business Hours
Pay Range: 95-105k - based on experience
Job Summary
As an Application Engineer, you will be responsible for the application and quotation of M&J Valve products in response to product/solution inquiries from customers and representatives, in accordance with established company policies and practices. In performing your role, you will work in close conjunction with customers/representatives to provide the best possible available solution. You will serve as the interface between our operational and support departments as together, we work to exceed customers’ expectations.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Handling all correspondence and inquiries with customer and reps regarding application of product, technical information, and process.
- Preparation of quotations and system sketches where necessary.
- Working closely with the appropriate resources within to proactively represent and service customers and sales channel representatives.
- Supporting technical presentations to customers.
- Assist customer and/ or representatives on all questions concerning our product specifications.
- Maintain records of representative’s quotations and updates to all stakeholders
- Cooperate with regional managers regarding quotations, inquiries and new business development.
- Maintain proper records to permit the formation of weekly quotation forecast.
- Assist reps and their personnel in matters of policies and procedures.
- Adhering to all internal procedures related to bid preparation, proposal tracking, order hand-over packages, and internal sales forecasting tools.
- Become the technical interface of the sales department with internal and external personnel.
- Support of large installed base with responses to technical questions and installation support.
- Understanding valve specifications and standards and supporting design reviews.
- Capable to performing control valve sizing and selection.
- Understanding of customer systems in pipelines, pump stations, power and industrial plants.
- Ability to review critical valve application information and provide advice on solutions.
- Assist customer and/ or representatives on all questions concerning our product specifications.
- Work closely with customers on issues related to application, design, manufacturing, and quality of products to reach a prompt resolution.
- Directly review and process incoming customer inquiries.
- Support product development initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Expert technical knowledge of gate and relief valve products including sizing, specification and selection based on customer requirements.
- Experience with skid fabrication design aspects and applications.
- General knowledge of liquid pipeline industry standards and pressure mitigation products used.
- Ability to read and interpret customer specifications and PID’s.
- Familiar with field instrumentation such as pressure regulators, pressure transmitters, flow transmitters, pilot valves, and pressure gauges.
- Knowledge of ANSI, ASME, API, MSS codes.
- A strong commercial focus and understanding of the sales process.
- Ability to work well in a cross functional, fast-paced, customer-driven environment.
- Shrewd in contract management including but not limited to terms and conditions, INCO Terms, Payment Milestones.
- Familiar with successful business process improvement, margin improvement and cost reduction programs.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field required.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of related professional experience and/or training.
