Production Control Manager

Production Control Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises and trains personnel in production control, inventory control, customer service, and shipping.
- Plans and implements activities related to the timely, cost-effective inventory control, planning, and quality control of raw materials. Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and material control systems to reduce cost, and streamline operations.
- Works with Purchasing Manager and Value Stream Managers to develop and plan and provide the required levels of finished goods, a materials requirement system to ensure components necessary to produce finished goods, and systems to maintain acceptable inventory levels to meet customer requirements.
- Assists in the development and implementation of solutions to problems affecting the flow of material and support of customers. Coordinates with manufacturing and finance on matters involving inventory related cost.
- Maintains communication efforts with customers and sales team to understand order patterns and delivery performance criteria.
- Partners with Purchasing Manager to select products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items. Estimates values according to knowledge of market price.
- Drives continuous improvement and lean principles throughout the plant.
- Analyze current processes and implements recommended improvements such as pull systems, etc. to help manage inventory, increase efficiencies and throughput.
- Maintains records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
- Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
- Expedites delivery of goods to users.
- Schedules, supplies, and manages material for outside processing.
- Loads, maintains, and reviews RPS System.
- Drive continuous improvement activity throughout the plant, utilizing tools such as value stream mapping, kaizen events, 5-S process, and other lean production principles.
- Acts as the plant manager’s back up and fills in when the plant manager is not available.
- May give certain authority to assigned staff within their job scope to perform duties, make decisions, and use independent judgments.
- Each employee has the authority to initiate action to prevent a violation of the Tenneco Policies2.
- All employees will abide by the plant’s safety policy, comply with the legal and other requirements and operational controls established, work toward achieving established objectives and targets, and conform to procedures consistent with the ISO 14001 standard. An employee should report, and if necessary stop, any activity that does not conform to the policy or may injure himself/herself.
- Capable of providing support as requested by supervisor.
EDUCATION:
Bachelors Degree in related field required or 4 - 6 years experience in related field like logistics or supply chain management.
EXPERIENCE:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 3 or more years experience as a product line or production manager. Must have working knowledge of lean production, including pull systems, and continuous improvement. Previous supervision experience is mandatory. Implementation of Lean Principles is mandatory.
