Maintenance Superintendent - Metal Supply

Arconic Lancaster, PA (Onsite) Full-Time

The Maintenance Superintendent is accountable for providing strategic and tactical leadership overseeing the deployment and development of all areas under their control in a safe and productive environment. Areas to include but not limited to, the maintenance ops leaders, maintenance crews, and maintenance planning / scheduling. This role works as part of the leadership team for the production area under the direction of the area Production/Manufacturing Manager to meet plant goals and metrics.  Along with providing direction to effectively implement, execute, and maintain maintenance systems for their area, the Superintendent safely leads the maintenance team and fosters the use of tools such as REX, CMMS, PMO, Predictive and Preventative techniques. 

LEADERSHIP PERFORMANCE:

  • Lead the team in safely producing the highest quality product in accordance with plant quality standards.
  • Ensure team performance goals are aligned to department business objectives and communicated to the team.
  • Engage team members utilizing Arconic Supervisory Excellence (ASE) principles and Human and Organizational Performance principles (HP).
  • Work closely with support resources to ensure the needs of the teams are being met.
  • Comply with all employment laws and Arconic Equal Opportunity Policies in all hiring, promotions, demotions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Contribute, monitor and ensure progress of maintenance team members in skill development areas.
  • Ensure work is executed to achieve performance to plan and schedule PM and REX compliance targets.
  • Support assigned area off-shift as necessary.

MAINTENANCE SYSTEMS:

  • Analyze maintenance metrics, bad actors, and maintenance downtime data for trends and opportunities for problem-solving and waste elimination.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental policies and safety requirement. This includes ASAT, LTT, and SMACT Reporting.
  • Develop and advocate for short term and long term rebuild schedules for all large machine components
  • Develop area CAPEX maintenance needs with prioritization 
  • Maintain and track area equipment obsolescence items 
  • Monitor Department expenses and takes action to maintain costs within budgetary guidelines.
  • Lead performance management (IDPs, discipline, constructive feedback) for department. 
  • Review direct reports’ salaries.
  • Update Critical Spares Inventory and Machine History list.  
  • Initiate and participate in project or equipment change process.
  • Oversee document management with area SPA.
  • Monitor Triple I & E investigations, fill out relevant paperwork, and facilitate corrective actions.
  • Approve work requests and purchase orders for your Area. 
  • Review orders with vendors.
  • Oversee PM compliance and weekly outages. 

TEAM DEVELOPMENT:

  • Attend team meetings, ensuring that team meetings are occurring and are led by the team with engagement from Team Star Points, coaching the team to perform in a cohesive manner and drive continuous improvement across all metrics.
  • Reward and recognize teams.
  • Ensure that individual team member development needs are appropriately addressed.

RISK MANAGEMENT:

  • Drive the use of all Human Performance tools by the teams.
  • Coach and hold accountable the teams, maintenance shift coordinators and operations leaders in the application of all safety rules and regulations. 
  • Ensure that EHS incidents and quality issues are appropriately investigated, and corrective actions implemented on a timely basis.
  • Maintain awareness of outage plans and communicate timelines to the Maintenance Ops leaders 

OTHER NECESSARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Follows all policies, procedures, and EHS requirements.
  • Performs other duties as requested by management.
  • Promotes and practices Arconic Business System concepts and philosophies.
  • Requires excellent team building skills.
  • Ability to translate corporate and plant business objectives into meaningful and achievable business goals for the department.
  • Maintenance and working knowledge regarding process, equipment capability, practices, systems.
  • Strong mechanical or electrical process aptitude required.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects/assignments concurrently and be results oriented.
  • Demonstrates good computer skills, including a good working knowledge of Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Experience with Time Keeping System and Oracle required
  • Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with individuals and teams at all levels of the organization.
  • Self-motivated team player with positive attitude.

Basic Qualifications 

  • Journeyperson industrial mechanic or electrician or Associate's Degree from trade school as industrial mechanic or electrician.
  • 7 years of work experience as industrial electrician or mechanic.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience within maintenance.
  • Able to work flexible hours as required.
