EHS Technician - 1st

Job Purpose:  

Provide to all plant departments and personnel effective support, management, oversight and guidance in the areas of health, safety, environmental and security issues.

 

Job Duties:

  • Monitor the removal of physical, biological, security, and chemical hazards.
  • Provide training for employees on HSES policies, procedures, and legal and other requirements.
  • Verify compliance with HSE requirements and ensure all necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines.
  • Manage the customer requirements of ISO-14001 and related requirements and advise management of non-conformances and corrective actions necessary for compliance.
  • Manage participation in OSHA inspections (as they occur) providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identification of safety measures.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. 
  • Act as an advisor to HSES team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. 
  • Perform Risk assessments, Job Hazard Analysis, and spreadsheet management for presentation across management platforms.
  • Oversee plant safety committee
  • Perform inspections and audits to ensure compliance throughout the plant.
  • Report and correct non-conformances by implementing proven techniques and action plan development.
  • Document revision, review, and control

Proficiency in CPRO, EHSIS, SharePoint, Microsoft Office, and Plex

 

Job Requirements:

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant/applicable field preferred.

Experience:

  • 5 – 7 years of experience in the area(s) of health, safety, environmental and security.

Special Skills:

  • Must be proficient with PCs, Microsoft office, and possess effective interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements:

Sit with intermittent walking.  Manual dexterity for such duties as stapling, collating, sorting, filing, typing and writing.  Communicate (hearing and speech) with individuals in person and by phone.  Visually read reports, computer screen, etc.  Maintain a minimum of 8 hours worked/day, 5 days/week.

Customer Service:

Must provide effective support and assistance to all departments in the areas of health, safety, environmental and security; knowledge of customer requirements in the automotive industry, or metal stamping industry is helpful.

Most Typical Problem:  Everyday issues in HSES field such as scheduling training for multiple shifts, etc.

Most Complex Problem:  Training, file management, and assessments for multiple shifts.
