Intern - Tax Accounting
Major Activities
- Gain an understanding of corporate income tax by assisting with preparing federal, state, and international income tax returns, extensions, and estimated taxes, including calculating book-tax differences and supporting work papers
- Gain an understanding of corporate indirect tax by preparing tax account reconciliations, working with 3rd party tax advisors on technical issues, analyzing accounts for variances, and reviewing exemption certificates
- Assist with income or sales tax audits including responding to notices and gathering data/preparing support schedules, researching tax issues, drafting correspondence with taxing authorities, and working with outside advisors
- Gain of understanding of transfer pricing through the calculation of monthly and quarterly intercompany transfer pricing charges
- Prepare monthly and quarterly intercompany wire transfers
- Assist in the preparation of business license filings and annual reports
- Research tax technical issues and investigate accounting entries for proper tax treatment
- Gain experience with tax technology like OneSource, CheckPoint, Alteryx, Vertex Solutions, and AI tools
- Assist with special projects as they arise
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Minimum Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Must have completed junior year and going into 4th year of school
- Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Accounting GPA of 3.0 or higher
Minimum Special Certifications or Technical Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint or equivalent Google Suite applications

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Preferred Education
- Student in Master of Science in Taxation or Master of Accounting with Taxation concentration program with a focus on obtaining his/her CPA license
Preferred Special Certifications or Technical Skills
- Student who wants to specialize in Tax
- Student with an interest and aptitude in technology
Preferred Type of Experience the Job Requires
- One year of experience working in a retail environment
