EHS Intern

JOB TITLE:               Environmental, Health & Safety Intern

LOCATION NAME:  Greenville MI

REPORTS TO:           EH&S Manager

DEPARTMENT:        EH&S

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assisting the EH&S team by undertaking projects related to equipment/machine safety, industrial hygiene, environmental compliance, safety inspections, and risk assessments.

Tenneco’s Powertrain Division is looking for an intern to perform entry level environmental, health and safety tasks in support of the EHS Coordinator. 

We are ready to act immediately on those candidates who are the best fit for the role.  You’ll first hear from someone in Human Resources to schedule a phone screen, and then the next step will be a personal interview with our EHS Manager.  We pride ourselves on moving through processes quickly, and you can be sure of transparency and prompt communication throughout.

Responsibilities:

  • Further develop existing safety programs such as Confined Space, Lockout, Hazard Communication, and machine safety.
  • Complete weekly/monthly safety inspections.
  • Assist the EHS Manager in completing/reviewing risk assessments, PPE assessments and lockout procedures.
  • Assist the EHS committee during quarterly audits to identify non-compliances in the workplace.
  • Attend monthly safety meetings to suggest corrective actions that would help to better protect our employees and sustain a safety-first culture throughout the organization.
  • Help update and maintain the safety data sheet database.
  • Help manage & gather hazardous waste containers for disposal.

EDUCATION:

Pursuing a degree in Environmental, Health & Safety or other related field.

Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements.
  • Basic PC Skills – Microsoft Office.
