Test Engineering Lab Project Manager

Tenneco Exton, PA (Onsite) Full-Time

Automotive & Aerospace Engineering Lab 

  • Plans all materials and product testing as requested through Technical Services Request System and is responsible for ensuring either on-time completion of the request or notification to requestor that an on-time completion is not possible.

  • Interfaces with the Customer, Sales, Product Engineer, PMO, R&D, Purchasing and Product Management groups, to understand the background behind testing requests.  Ensures tests are selected, conducted and reported to maximize the potential value to Tenneco SP.  Delivers customer presentations as required.

  • Ensures all test reports are technically accurate, clear, concise and are in a form consistent with Tenneco SP standards.

  • Serves on industry standards committees (SAE, ASTM, etc.) and acts as a liaison/resource for communication with testing and regulatory agencies.

  • Provides general technical support to Research and Development, Sales, external customers, Product Engineering, Purchasing and Operations groups.   Tests product performance, recommends products for customer applications, recommends product modifications, writes customer/external test reports, provides competitive product analyses and troubleshoots product failures.

  • Reads and correctly interprets industry and customer test specifications.  Performs the associated tests in accordance with said specifications.

  • Correctly analyzes and interprets test results.  Writes accurate and informative test reports.  Records all applicable testing conditions and parameters to allow for full traceability of test results.

  • Ensures TS16949/AS9100 requirements are followed for laboratory area.

  • Capable of providing support as requested by supervisor.

  • BS Degree in a technical discipline is required

  • Ability to interface effectively at all levels of the organization, as well as external customers
  • Experience with Automotive Industry and knowledge of QS 9000/TS16949, ASTM, SAE and UL Standards as related to testing a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and computer skills
  • Willing to travel at least 25% of the time

  • Statistical Process Control (SPC)
