Financial Controller - Maternity Cover

Arconic Birmingham, West Midlands (Onsite) Full-Time

Arconic is currently in search of a Financial Controller (maternity cover) to join our Kitts Green Team in Birmingham. This will initially be a temporary contract for 18 months with the possibility to go permanent afterwards.

Primary responsibilities

  • Manage the Finance team at Kitts Green;
  • Oversee month-end close to ensure timely delivery;
  • Review weekly/monthly forecasts and annual budgets;
  • Support and be the key advisor to the Plant Manager;
  • Participate in weekly management meetings;
  • Participate in monthly S&OP process meeting;
  • Participate in monthly Business Reviews with CEO and CFO;
  • Respond to corporate queries;
  • Oversee payroll journals;
  • Review of statutory accounts, tax queries;
  • Manage Finance projects;
  • Add value by challenging, designing, and streamlining existing processes.


Key objectives

Be responsible for the financial strategy of the business unit and ensuring sufficient communication to both internal site stake holders and wider Arconic staff. Manage a wide range of internal systems to push the company’s financial status.

You will need

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualifications
  • Strong operational finance experience ideally in a manufacturing organisation
  • General knowledge about SOX requirements
  • Experience managing a team
  • Experience working in a large organisation
  • Experience preparing and publishing monthly financial statements
  • Good understanding of the month-end/year end close process
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Ability to work with people of all levels of the company, up to and including the CEO
  • To be able to conduct audits; providing information to external auditors
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance
  • Protecting assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls
  • Ability to work under pressure due to managing a number of reports/deadlines


Preferred skills

  • University degree in a relevant field
  • Knowledge of US & UK GAAP accounting standards
  • Previous experience working in Finance for a large US corporation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Be a quick learner with a growth mindset

  • Ability to develop relationships and work as part of a team
