ABOUT THE JOB - APPLICATION ENGINEER - COPES-VULCAN
Location: Houston, Westplain Campus
Work Environment: Monday – Friday
Work Schedule/Hours: Normal Business Hours
Pay Range: 85 - 95k based on experience
JOB SUMMARY
As Application Engineer, you will be responsible for the application and quotation of Copes-Vulcan products in response to product/solution inquiries from customers and representatives in accordance with established company policies and practices. In performing your role, you will work in close conjunction with customers/representatives to provide the best possible available solution. You will serve as the interface between our operational and support departments as together, we work to exceed customers’ expectations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Your responsibilities will include correspondence and inquiries for three key areas:
- Application of product
- Technical information
- Prices
More specifically, your responsibilities will include:
- Handling all correspondence and inquiries with customers and reps regarding the application of the product, technical information, process and preparation of quotations, and system sketches where necessary.
- Working closely with the appropriate resources to proactively represent and service customers and sales channel representatives.
- Serving as technical interface with internal and external personnel; supporting technical presentations to customers; supporting a large installed base with responses to technical questions and installations.
- Assisting customers and/or representatives on all questions concerning our product specifications.
- Maintaining records of each representative’s quotations; stakeholder updates; and data key to creating the weekly quotation forecast.
- Working closely with customers on issues related to application, design, manufacturing, and quality of products in an effort to reach a prompt resolution.
- Cooperating with regional managers in regards to quotations, inquiries, and all phases of new business development.
- Adhering to all internal procedures related to bid preparation, proposal tracking, order hand-over packages, and internal sales forecasting tools.
- Reviewing critical valve application information and provide advice on solutions
- Serving as liaison between Sales and other departments.
- Supporting Product Development as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Some technical knowledge with control valves, desuperheaters, and steam conditioning products and the systems they go in is a plus.
- Ability to perform control valve sizing and selection preferred.
- Familiar with successful business improvement, margin improvement and cost reduction programs.
- Understanding of custom systems in power plants and industrial plants.
- Ability to understand valve specifications and supporting design reviews.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English.
- A desire to develop a career with a commercial focus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a strong team.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A bachelor's degree, preferably in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
- 0-3 years of related experience, internship(s) and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
- Be computer efficient (Word, Excel, Outlook and SAP experience beneficial).
