Electronic Technician

Tenneco Burlington, IA (Onsite) Full-Time

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for programming, troubleshooting, repair, and installing electronic and programmable logic controllers, circuitry, and PC boards into plant manufacturing equipment and machinery. Works closely with and trains maintenance electricians to perform daily tasks. Off shift Electronic Technicians will be an acting supervisor to make maintenance decisions regarding machinery and facility equipment to keep the plant running at all times. Effectively communicates shift activities to on coming shifts, Maintenance Supervisor, and Technical Services Manager.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

The following  describes the skills and requirements needed for the position of the Electronic Technician.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all of the plant electrical and electronic systems.
  • Working on a wide variety of equipment and systems including AC & DC motor controls, PLC’s, industrial computers, robotics, digital, and analog systems.
  •  Performing preventive maintenance of plant electronics and electrical systems.
  • Apply electrical theory or related knowledge including AC/DC theory, PLC ladder logic, motor controls, solid state, and semi-conductor circuit theory and lasers in testing and modifying operational or developmental electrical control circuitry of equipment within the facility.
  • Utilizing specialized instruments such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, amp meters insulation testers, and thermo-graphic imaging cameras to perform analysis and examination of facilities equipment.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics; Design, modification, and documentation of equipment circuits.
  • Planning and laying work orders or work from instructions, using sketches, blueprints, and drawings.
  • Making sure the accurate and appropriate completion of all preventive electrical technician duties.
  • Modify electrical prototypes in order to correct operational deviations under the general direction of an Electrical Engineer.
  • Use general test equipment application including multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic probes as wells as basic knowledge of the National Electric Code and how it applies to industrial installations.
  • Provide supervision to shift maintenance personnel to support the plant operations.
  • Communicate shift activites to other shifts while involving Electronic Technicians and Electrcian/Millwrights together.
  • Implement the company’s safety procedures.

EDUCATION:

  • High School diploma required. 
  • Associates degree in electronic technology preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-3 years experience in electronic/manufacturing environment.
