AVP Business Risk & Reporting

Purpose:

The AVP of Business Risk & Reporting will be accountable for business risk reporting and will have lead responsibility for partnering closely with various stakeholders across the enterprise and business lines in order to provide accurate and meaningful reporting and analysis to internal and external stakeholders. Role will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills, integrated thinking across all facets of risk management, and a desire to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of risk reporting and supporting processes and technology.

Accountabilities:

The AVP of Business Risk & Reporting will report directly to the Head of Business & Operational Risk with responsibilities including: 

 

Business Risk Management & Reporting 

  • Manage quantitative reporting needs of other risk functions (e.g., ALM, FP&A, ISG, Derivatives, Asset Risk, Liquidity Risk, etc.) 

  • Manage capital stress testing process with Finance and support VP Liquidity Risk on liquidity stress testing with Treasury 

  • Coordinate annual review of assumptions supporting Plan and assessment of the sensitivity of the assumptions on income and capital 

  • Lead build-out of ALM and liquidity risk reporting to support Athene’s growth in Asia/Pacific reinsurance 

  • Support risk due diligence on new product/investment/M&A efforts with data analysis and reporting 

  • Oversee detailed weekly, monthly and quarterly risk reporting, with emphasis on risk analytics and cash flows, across functions and business lines 

  • Manage reporting standards and controls to ensure accurate and meaningful reporting 

  • Support preparation of materials for senior management and Board committee meetings 

  • Document reporting processes in an auditable manner 

 

Reporting Enhancement and Automation 

  • Lead strategic development of long-term reporting solutions and data infrastructure 

  • Realize opportunities to improve the timing, efficiency, and degree of automation for reporting deliverables 

  • Lead in strategic implementations of business intelligent analytics platforms and reporting tools 

  • Lead with migration of reports from in-house system to the Tableau framework to support automation and reduce manual errors in the reporting process 

  • Drive initiatives to develop effective controls for data, data quality metrics and governance 


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Manager with 8+ years of experience leading Business Risk or Risk Reporting team at a global insurer, money center bank, or equivalent  

  • Experience in life insurance, investment, or risk management 

  • A sound understanding of the legal/regulatory, accounting, financial reporting and compliance landscape 

  • Ability to understand and risk manage complex balance sheet including multiple legal entities and business lines 

  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to manage stakeholders effectively at all levels within the organization 

  • Indirect or direct people leadership experience with strong knowledge of risk management best practices and emerging industry developments 

  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, skills with experience using Excel for data analysis  

  • Experience with Tableau or similar Business Intelligence tools a plus 

  • Experience managing large quantity of data from various sources 

  • Collaborative style and demonstrated success contributing to a team environment 

  • Graduate or MBA degree in Business Management, Finance, Economics, or other analytically intensive disciplines preferred
