Purpose:
Athene is seeking a skilled Compliance Analyst II to join our Compliance team. In this role, you will support different Compliance functions as business and regulatory needs and priorities shift. You will review, research, and resolve written complaints and provide oversight of Athene’s annuity distributors, fostering strong relationships with Key Distribution Partners (KDPs), Distribution, Compliance, Legal, Operations, and other departments.You will work closely with regulators and company representatives to identify and mitigate compliance risks, reducing financial exposure from litigation and regulatory perspectives. Your professional, fair, and balanced communication with customers, agents, KDPs, and internal business partners will be crucial. Additionally, you will recommend vital changes to Athene’s internal controls to protect the company's best interests.
Accountabilities:
Support a range of compliance functions as business and regulatory needs and priorities shift. These functions include, but are not limited, to complaint handling, producer oversight, anti-fraud activities and product compliance.
A primary purpose of this position is to work within the combined Consumer Resolution Team (CRT) and Agent Business Review Team (ABRT) and perform necessary duties to assist the company in the Company investigation of and responses to consumer complaints or agent inquiries.
To recommend changes in the company’s internal controls when change is deemed necessary to protect the interests of the company.
To assist in the development of strategies to address compliance changes within the organization; communicating changes to appropriate internal and external customers/departments and coordinating with those departments to ensure implementation.
To identify compliance exposures and drive/implement solutions to reduce financial exposure, from a litigation and regulatory perspective.
To aid in the establishment of written policies and procedures in all areas of business activity (from new business products, new business partnerships to ongoing business processing).
To monitor current compliance activity and resolve any issues.
To serve as a technical resource for peers and assist in the proper development of peers through mentoring.
To establish and maintain a professional working relationship with all regulators and with company representatives who are involved in compliance.
Strengthen and build relationships with Key Distribution Partners (KDPs), Distribution, Compliance, Legal, Operations and other areas that work with the Department.
Maintain a professional, fair, balanced approach in communications with customers, producers, KDPs, and internal business partners such as Sales/Distribution and Operations.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education.
4+ years of responsible legal and/or compliance experience.
Experience with complaint handling, anti-fraud efforts, and/or policy form filing is a plus.
Ability to function as a strategic partner of the Compliance Management Team and through collaboration, assist the team in developing compliance solutions.
A mixture of compliance and operational knowledge that has been acquired by work experience within a compliance business unit.
An understanding of regulatory requirements as they pertain to the life insurance and annuity businesses.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to draw conclusions from research or data collection, and report on those findings in multiple formats (e.g. written, spoken).
