Materials Planning Supervisor

Tenneco Marshall, MI (Onsite) Full-Time

Position Summary:

The Materials Planning Leader is responsible for the oversight of both the inbound material and the production scheduling team members. They are also an active team member in leading material project improvements, inventory accuracies, and the management of excess and obsolete inventory.  This position is responsible for supervising all planning activities. They are responsible for developing, implementing, and tracking of key metrics for the materials department such as schedule adherence, supplier on-time delivery, and premium freight. This role will be responsible for the supervision of 3-6 salaried team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Ensure that production schedules are developed to support the needs of all customers
  2. Track and report out on schedule attainment/adherence, supplier performance monitoring KPI’s
  3. Lead planning activities in order to minimize un-necessary costs such as operational downtime and inbound premium freight.
  4. Support inventory audits, and inventory controls for binning accuracy and negatives
  5. Maintain proactive shortage identification and management - help flag root causes & corrective actions.
  6. Identify total cost and cash flow opportunities within the materials department.
  7. May lead and direct others to accomplish desired organizational objectives.
  8. Support material flow designs for new product integrations
  9. Establish business relationships with all suppliers and ensure supply base is responsible
  10. Lead training on SAP processes to include manufacturing/planning disciplines to complete transactions.
  11. Analyze material and capacity constraints and seek out solutions to improve value stream flow.
  12. Interface with required functional groups to resolve challenging delivery requirements.
  13. Work with engineering and quality to put together plans for phase in/phase out and ECN impacts
  14. Productivity: identify and implement cost reduction/productivity projects to meet the corporate initiatives/goals. Maintain pipeline and financial records for reporting and tracking productivity.

Experience and Skills Required:

  1. BA/BS degree or 5+ years minimum materials experience to include 2+ years as a supervisor.
  2. APICS (CPIM) or equivalent certification preferred.
  3. Considerable knowledge of industry related supply base.
  4. Skilled in production and supplier scheduling.
  5. Able to provide leadership and direction/training to peers as needed.
  6. Computer proficient with ERP (SAP strongly preferred) and Microsoft Office applications
  7. Basic mathematical skills
  8. Experience in operations, inventory management, MRP and lean manufacturing processes.
  9. Experience with visual management systems
