Operator Technician - Night Shift

Building and Construction Systems, a business unit of Arconic, is the leading manufacturer of Architectural Aluminum Products and Systems for the Building and Construction industry. Arconic Architectural Products (AAP) is part of Arconic’s global Building and Construction Systems (BCS) business unit. 

Arconic has an exciting opportunity for an Operator Technician to support our Arconic Architectural Products, LLC business. Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the Operator Tech will work with the production team to maintain efficient and effective operations of the Reynobond ACM production line. 

The Operator Technician will work night shift hours from 7pm - 7am, 3 to 4 days per week depending on business needs. The hourly pay rate starts at $27.37/hour. There is an additional $1.00/hour shift premium for all hours worked on night shift. *Training and Development during the first 3-6 months will likely occur during day shift hours from 7am-7pm. 

Job responsibilities include:

  • Operate, Install, repair, inspect, test, calibrate, adjust, maintain, modify, clean, service and/or lubricate machines, equipment, electrical controls, structures and facilities
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues to root cause
  • Become electrically certified to troubleshoot and repair equipment electrical issues
  • Ability to update work orders with detailed information via email or other written document
  • Diagnose and correct problems and proactively seek elimination of wastes and failures, including PM completion. 
  • Interpret mechanical, hydraulic and civil drawings and schematics
  • Interface with design and maintenance/engineering personnel, to assure efficient installations and repairs and to maintain equipment documentation integrity
  • Assist maintenance/engineering with machine repairs 
  • Interpret specification sheets and technical literature for mechanical and hydraulic components for the purpose of installation and/or troubleshooting
  • Cut, weld, braze and fabricate tools, materials and equipment
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance checks, inspections and repairs
  • Proper housekeeping including organizing and maintaining work areas, tools and equipment for clean, efficient, and orderly operations
  • Paint infrastructure or process equipment in immediate and surrounding work areas consistent with department housekeeping and safety requirements
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn/change when necessary
  • Need hand tools

A successful candidate will have:

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and applications
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance and repairs on hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, and pumps

Basic Qualifications: 

  • High school graduate or GED
  • 1+ years of mechanical maintenance experience with a variety of areas, including electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, pumps, lubrication, pipefitting
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be able to push, pull and lift up to 40 lbs unassisted 
  • Must be able to sit/stand for up to 2 hrs
  • Must be able to bend/squat at a 45-degree angle
  • Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled facility for up to 12 hours
  • Must be able to reach overhead as needed 
  • Must be able to climb ladders/stairs as needed
  • Must be able to enter tight/restrictive spaces to perform work as needed
  • Must be not be color-blind and able to differentiate wire colors
  • Must be able to become electrically certified at basic level
  • Must be able to become mobile equipment certified

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 3+ years general maintenance experience
  • 3+ years of industrial experience
  • Technical degree in Industrial Controls or related maintenance field
  • Advanced mechanical skills, such as creating/reading AutoCAD drawings, wire/stick welding, fabrication, reading blueprints, soldering 
  • ACM line maintenance experience
