Software Development Engineer in Data

A Little About Us: 

Yahoo's data warehouse team manages a petabyte warehouse to glean insights on Yahoo Media products and to improve the experience for its massive user base. The team interacts and works across multiple organizations at yahoo to grow user engagement and user experience across yahoo's product portfolio. Your work will directly influence product changes and you will work with some of the brightest engineers you have known to improve the user experience on yahoo properties and contribute to company growth. Along the way, you will solve problems for an Internet Pioneer that is hard to match in the industry.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build and launch efficient & reliable data pipeline and data processes in production

• Perform data analysis to generate business insights

• Work with Product owners, Engineers, and Analysts to understand product goals and data needs

• Build data expertise and own data quality for allocated areas of ownership

• Manage data warehouse plans for a Yahoo products

• Support critical data processes running in production

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS or  MS in Computer Science or a related major, or equivalent experience

• 4+ years of Java and/or Python development experience

• 3+ years experience in custom ETL design using Big Data stack environments (Hadoop, MapReduce, Pig, Hive, AWS EMR, Apache Beam, Google Cloud Platform Dataflow, BigQuery), implementation and maintenance.

• Experience working with Analytics and Data pipeline(AWS, GCP, Hadoop, MapReduce) 

• Experience with schema design and dimensional data modeling.

• Comfortable at writing complex sql queries.

• Experience or familiarity with either of the tools : kafka, storm,spark streaming, druid, ElasticSearch.

• Strong data mindset with a deep appreciation for analyzing data to identify product gaps and enhancements to improve user engagement and revenue growth.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to tell insightful stories using data and also manage communication within internal teams and stakeholders.

The compensation for this position ranges from $128,250.00 - $266,875.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
