Java Software Engineer role in Yahoo Targeting team

The Online Targeting Services Team in Dublin is responsible for ingesting, storing and distributing profile information to enable our Demand advertising platform to do audience and contextual targeting. We provide the platforms and services for internal clients to deliver high value advertisements based on a user’s relevant information.

Position Responsibilities

• Be part of a 6-7 engineer scrum team responsible for delivering end-to-end user stories.

• Take high level design and break it down into low level design following SOLID design principles.

• Follow TDD best practices (unit testing, system testing, static code analysis)

• Work closely with Product managers, to understand feature requirements

• Provide level of effort (LoE) estimates.

• Troubleshoot issues and bugs.

• Responsible for all aspects of product life cycle, from development to deployment and monitoring

• You may be required to work on-call to support systems and equipment outside of normal working hours on an assignment basis

Position Requirements – Minimum qualifications

• B.Sc. Computer Science or technical field

• Minimum of 4 years of recent hands-on experience in Java.

• Execution experience in fast-paced environments and performance driven culture

• Must have strong programming and troubleshooting skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, e.g., the ability to explain the work in plain language

• Experience with building robust, scalable, distributed services

• Must have written unit and functional tests using Junit, Mockito, Cucumber, JBehave or similar frameworks.

• Hands-on experience using Git for software version control.

• Experience in public cloud such as AWS.

Additional preferred qualifications

• Experience with NoSQL databases

• Experience in JavaScript or other scripting languages a huge bonus

• Experience working with containerisation
