Operations Leader

Arconic Visalia, CA (Onsite) Full-Time

Arconic is currently in search of an Operations Leader to join our Kawneer business in Visalia, CA. Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Operations Leader will manage a team of 20+ employees and is accountable for the Material Handling, Shipping/Receiving and Boxing teams. Base Salary Range: $76,500.00 - $93,500.00

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all departmental goals in alignment with the plant business (e.g. IFE, TRR, DART, Human Performance, OTIF, WCR, Operational Productivity, Labor efficiency, OEE, Inventory, Budget, Quality, etc.)
  • Employee Engagement – help drive department activities and moral 
  • Manage implementation of policies and procedures and recommend improvements in working conditions.
  • Complete employee performance reviews and issue disciplinary action when appropriate.
  • Responsible for problem analysis and resolution showing improved process optimization.
  • Follow-up on investigations of scrap with the quality department.
  • Responsible for the integrity of the system transactions on Oracle/JDE
  • Implement, maintain, and improve leading indicators processes that will prevent EHS incidents.
  • Communicate and follow up with Plant Manager and peers on daily/weekly/monthly requirements.
  • Communicate with other production and support departments (Quality, Engineering, PC, ABS, etc.).
  • Review production schedules, staffing requirements and make decisions in order to guarantee the safety and productivity of the area.
  • Provide process direction and prioritization to craft employees on off-shifts to resolve equipment issues, as needed.
  • Succession planning - coach leads and employees in a manner that moves the organization toward accomplishing the target condition
  • Skill Matrix for each employee- Training plan and progression pathway/Job descriptions 
  • Safety Leadership L1, L3 HP Human Performance, Monthly FSIP Meetings
  • Resource Management (People, Equipment, Maintenance, Time)
  • Accurate Recordkeeping (Production, Quality, Training, Payroll, Evaluations) 
  • Quality Management KPI Monthly / Daily Target plans for supervisors and department or area of responsibility (Feedback cycle time and PPM Targets)
  • Unit Cost Management year on year improvement by department 
  • Continuous Improvement/ABS Deployment/ Lean principles
  • Capex project Management 
  • Arconic Self-Assessment Tests where applicable 
  • MDR waste targets 
  • TPM equipment schedule 
  • Claims, Takeoff, Fab, paint
  • Inventory management and cycle count accuracy
  • Order Shop supplies for material handling, shipping, and boxing 
  • In charge of monthly Inventory to include data entry cycle counts and assist with annual physical inventory (Planning) 
  • Work with finance to reduce material variances 
  • Maintain proper head count and OPI targets
  • Submit requests through Magnet for temporary employee recruiting needs 
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Knowledge & Skills

  • Develop accountability, trust, and respect among team members
  • Maintain positive relations and communication with all internal and external departments.
  • Communicate as needed with external customers to ensure a relationship that promotes customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize ABS network resources to support personnel development and succession progress: i.e.: training through work instructions and skills matrix tracking.
  • Related Expert knowledge of the department process

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution or 10 years of manufacturing experience as a department lead.
  • 5 Years supervisory experience in a production environment
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
