Shipping/Receiving Coordinator

Tenneco Angola, IN (Onsite) Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARY:

Process customer orders and serve as main contact for customers

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain customer open order releases in MOP system, entering schedules according to guidelines and flagging any conflicts
  • Serve as the initial contact for customer inquiries on delivery information and expedites
  • Communicate to Production Planners & production department the needs and requests of customers
  • Work with production and planners to locate parts that are needed to meet customer shipments, this may require physically walking and looking for parts within the plant to prevent missed shipments.
  • Inform production supervisor and production manager when trucks are arriving when parts are not on the dock ready to ship to ensure production is aware of situation in an attempt to prevent short shipments and potential expedites
  • Holding trucks to prevent short shipments when necessary if production is running parts that are required to ship 
  • Maintain customer order documents, records, files, premium freight log and records, and other relative files
  • Interface electronically with customers via their online system
  • Maintain customer portals per customer requirements
  • Plan daily shipping activities; prepare daily shipping schedule and contact carriers.  Identify customer freight to be shipped and communicate any shortages or “HOT” parts
  • Ensure that all shipping and receiving paperwork is complete, accurate and done in a timely manner.
  • Serve as a back up to co-workers within the shipping dept to ensure all customers are covered during absences of co-workers within department
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/CRITICAL SKILLS:

  • High school diploma or GED certificate (college degree preferred)
  • 1-2 years experience in Customer Service
  • Ability to effectively operate a computer and knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to deal effectively with internal and external customers
  • Team player mentality

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Office environment – includes, but not limited to, artificial lighting, computers, telephones, desks, temperature controlled.
  • Manufacturing environment – includes, but not limited to, artificial lighting, machine/equipment noise, some welding exhaust, metal working fluid mist, non-controlled temperatures, and PPE required.
  • Some travel which could include overnight stays.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to sit for short periods of time to complete required reports.
  • Ability to move about the plant in both the office and manufacturing areas.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.
  • Manual dexterity for computer work.
