JOB SUMMARY:
The Plant Controller is responsible for directing Finance and Accounting.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans and develops controls to project production performance related to forecast.
- Projects monthly sales and forecasts variable and period costs, and profits. Issues weekly flash reflecting performance versus forecast.
- Prepares quarterly forecast, annual business plan, and three-year strategic plan.
- Prepare monthly capital expenditure forecasts.
- Conducts meetings and / or discusses operations at plant level to advise and recommend corrective action to profit management problems.
- Conducts variance analysis at month end and quarter end.
- Oversees accounting department.
- Provides advise and counsel on accounting matters to Plant Management – methods to improve profit, constraint-related issues, margin management, new business opportunities, etc.
- Develops costing systems to accurately measure inventory and cost of sales values and produces accurate financial reports on a timely basis.
- Reviews appropriation requests to determine whether return on investment and payback period meet Corporate guidelines
- Reviews Sarbanes Oxley narrative and walks through documentation.
- Performs monthly staff layered process audits.
- Coordinates changes in product requirements (material changes) via advanced planning meetings.
- Analyzes all variances as to business plan, forecasts and last year origin and cause in order to determine corrective action; counsels on spending in advance of commitment.
- Coordinates special studies which are initiated at the plant level as well as those required at either group or corporate level.
- Prepares monthly capital expenditure forecasts.
- Reviews all quotations and advises Plant Manager on whether to accept business. Also advises on appropriate margin.
- Facilitates plant efforts and projects as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting / Finance or related field preferred. CPA preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
5-7 years of accounting experience preferred. Experience in manufacturing industry preferred.
