Principal Network Engineer

Shutterfly is looking for a Principal Network Engineer to join our team! As part of the Shutterfly Network Engineering (NetEng) Team, you will be expected to provide continuity, deep organizational knowledge, and strategic oversight for our network infrastructure. This role involves managing and optimizing a tech stack, which includes Cisco SD-WAN, Panorama, F5, SASE, Solarwinds, .

What You'll Do Here:

  • Network Design and Management: Led design and help oversee the health and performance of our production, print and corporate network infrastructure, including Cisco SD-WAN, Panorama, Palo Alto Firewall, F5 load balancers, Cisco Wifi and various metric/monitor tooling.
  • Strategic Oversight: Provide strategic guidance, task planning and direction for network evolution and upgrades, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Optimization: Optimize network performance and reliability through design, expert troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with both full-time employees (FTEs) and contractors to ensure cohesive team operations and effective project execution.
  • Innovation: Drive the adoption of new technologies and best practices in network design and operations to support Shutterfly’s growth and evolving needs.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations and design. 

 The Skills You'll Bring:

  • 10 years of proven experience in network engineering with hands-on experience in Routing, Firewalls, Load balancers, and SASE technologies.
  • Strong skills in network design, troubleshooting, and performance optimization. Familiarity with advanced network design principles.
  • Education: Relevant Networking and Security certifications are recognized (e.g., PCNSE, CCNP, CCIE,).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  •  Ability to work effectively within a team of both FTEs and contractors, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

The compensation package for this role is based on multiple factors, such as job level, responsibilities, location, and candidate experience. The base pay ranges included below are specific to the locations listed, and may not be applicable to other locations.

California : [$132,000-187,000]

Connecticut, New York, and Rhode Island: [$132,000-171,250]

Colorado and Washington: [$132,000-158,500]

Nevada: [$124,000-171,250]

This opportunity can be remote, but candidates must reside in a state in which Shutterfly is registered to do business. This includes all US states except District of Columbia, North Dakota, Mississippi, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wyoming.
