Job Description

  • POSITION: Chief Engineer, Customer Technical Account Management

  • JOB DUTIES: 
    • Direct customer technical accounts and serve as the technical leader for global customer relationships. Build and maintain technical relationships and sales.
    • Understand and apply knowledge of segmentation and product strategy for each segment, competition value attributes for each segment, and gap analysis for each segment. Identify new business opportunities.
    • Understand and apply knowledge of vehicle dynamics strategies of original equipment manufacturers and manage interaction with customer engineering leadership.
    • Manage the Customer Engineering team and align specific customer deliveries to TenPLUS program management execution.
    • Establish current and future requirements and product needs and communicate same to the Product Management and Core Engineering teams.
    • Execute global alignment for customer quotes and projects in line with Tenneco standards, and drive development of new standards where necessary.
    • Provide input to Tenneco strategy and product planning based on customer feedback.
    • Lead technical reviews and support the business unit in new business quotes.
    • Lead customer new product launches and oversee customer programs as well as TenPLUS program management.
    • Lead activities and manage technical escalations within customer programs.
    • Define the customer service level agreements with the Testing, Simulation, Prototyping, and Ride Tuning departments.
    • Ensure the proper design and product governance, as well as standardization and modularity of customer processes.
    • Meet product technical and performance targets and establish improvement requirements to support future product roadmaps.
    • Establish technology strategy plans for the company and provide leadership in technical marketing to customers.
    • Provide input to Tenneco strategies and product planning.
    • Manage post-production customer support and define technical solutions to customer concerns. Drive improvement plans for warranty technical performance as needed.
    • Supervise two engineers in the customer engineering management group.

  • MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

  • MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Eight (8) years of experience as Engineering Team Lead for product development, Engineering Supervisor for product development, or Engineering Manager for product development.

  • SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The eight (8) years of experience must have been in the automotive or auto parts manufacturing industry and must have included automotive chassis or suspension systems, management of damper product design, development and launch for original equipment and aftermarket programs, including quotation, design, feasibility determination, budget control, validation, and ongoing technical product support and problem resolution.

  • Employer will accept as meeting the bachelor's degree requirement a combination of education and work experience determined by an accredited U.S. credentials evaluator to be equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor's Degree.
  • TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Up to 10% international travel required to company manufacturing plants and engineering centers.
