Deskside Technician

Arconic Massena, NY (Onsite) Full-Time

Arconic is seeking a Deskside Technician to be the first line IT support to all employees, and contractors at our Massena Operations, location in Massena, NY. This position reports to the location IT Manager and provides trouble shooting to the end user and manages full cycle of IT assets. The successful candidate will be customer facing and bring a service approach to helping others. The primary purpose of the Deskside Technician is to support all employees and contractors at the location and manage the full life cycle of IT / OT assets in both business and process networking environments. The incumbent must communicate professionally and effectively with a wide variety of people, via face to face, over the phone, remote access, Teams and in writing.

Essential Functions: This position includes tactical execution; examples include but are not limited to:

  • Provide IT / OT deskside support to all employees at the Arconic Massena plant in Massena, NY and other remote sites
  • Provide White Glove IT services to all company executives at the Arconic Massena plant in Massena, NY and other remote sites
  • Diagnose and resolve software and hardware incidents, including operating system (Windows 10, 11), network, mobile devices and across a range of applications 
  • Operate with Arconic IS standards and conventions and applicable Arconic BU/RU IT Standards
  • Stage, configure, and deliver IT assets (e.g. personal computers and mobile phones)
  • Manage the inventory of IT assets in the building
  • Support IT systems at the location
  • Work across a global IT support team to share information and best practice

Essential Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Systems and Technology — Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the practical application of systems and technology. This includes knowledge of systems architecture, hardware, operations, and life cycle. 
  • Knowledge of Operating Systems (Windows 10 & 11, Windows Server 2016, 2019) & standard application installation (MS Office 2013, Office 365 products), configuration and troubleshooting
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills – Job requires partnership with all levels of the organization from personnel to executives.
  • Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. 
  • Dependability – Job requires being reliable, responsible, dependable, and fulfilling obligations. 
  • Stress Tolerance – Job requires dealing calmly and effectively in high stress situations, including conflict resolution. 
  • Active Listening – Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. 
  • Time Management – Managing one's own time. This position requires self-motivation with autonomous work ethic.
  • Problem Sensitivity – The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong and manage any resulting conflict.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent from an accredited organization
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. 
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
