Staff Mechanical Project Engineer

Arconic Davenport, IA (Onsite) Full-Time

Job Summary:

The Staff Mechanical Project Engineer provides leadership and execution for demanding implementation and engineering work within your respective areas. Your efforts will be focused on capital expenditure project execution, leading the projects, and providing overall technical direction and engineering support for maintenance and process improvement. This experienced Staff Mechanical Project Engineer has experience with developing both theoretical and practical knowledge of capex project execution, mechanical engineering, and manufacturing processes.

This Staff Mechanical Project Engineer reports to the Central Engineering and Capital Manager. This role is driven by self-directed work and collaborative efforts with a team of Engineers, Technical staff, maintenance, and leaders across the organization.

You will be expected to work Monday through Friday during daytime hours, but will be responsible for off-shifts and/or weekends as needed to support the functions of this role and respective projects.

In this role, you will:

  • Coordinate capex project execution including scope, scheduling and budget management.
  • Lead the design, installation, and commissioning of new and revised equipment.
  • Engineering support for maintenance & process improvement efforts.
  • Lead and participate in problem solving efforts with multi-discipline technical staff, maintenance and production.
  • Incorporate SMART Manufacturing principles and tools into automated inspection systems to improve processes, data collection/analysis, and drive quick results in recovery improvements.
  • May mentor employees to increase their knowledge of equipment and process, when needed.
     

You have:

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Ag Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record leading, managing & executing projects including design, installation, and commissioning.
  • Experience managing external vendors and contractors who provide design, material, installation, and other support functions.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
  • This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Authorizations from the relevant government agency may be required to meet export control compliance requirements.

Exceptional Candidates possess:

  • Ten (10) or more years of experience of manufacturing processes, especially in the metals industry.
  • Experience developing project business cases and writing project approval requests.
  • Experience with reliability techniques, including measurement, statistical control, capability, and maintainability.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, using both theoretical and practical methods to achieve improvements or correct identified problems.
  • Ability to oversee the activities of craft persons involved in the implementation of engineered solutions.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain an on-going dialog with installers to identify issues, clarify requirements, and facilitate use of safe work practices.
  • Strong oral and written communications, and a desire to coordinate and/or lead the activities of other members of a team.
  • Work effectively in a high-performance team environment and with cross functional teams.
