Assistant Quality Manager

Arconic Lafayette, IN (Onsite) Full-Time

Arconic is currently in search of an Assistant Quality Manager to join our Extrusions business unit in Lafayette, IN.

This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and driving value generation of our quality systems. This position leads the team that provides the corporate expertise for product quality and the core quality systems that drive process stability across Arconic’s operations and headquarters functions. 

Primary Responsibilities – 

  • Ensure our quality systems investments are integrated into the day-to-day operation of our manufacturing, commercial, research and financial systems. 
  • Foster an environment where quality systems drive impact and not solely to meet certification requirements. 
  • Lead recovery/yield improvements through improving product flow path design and promoting a problem-solving culture through utilization of root cause problem solving tools including FMEA, FTA, Ishikawa diagram, etc… 
  • Evaluates production operations from a strategic level to ensure that products meet quality, integrity, functionality, and other specifications and requirements. 
  • Continually monitor, analyze, and react to key quality KPIs including claims ppm, planned recovery loses, and unplanned recovery loses to drive higher level of performance across the businesses. 
  • Collaborates with the management and technical staff across the production flow paths to maintain acceptable quality standards. 
  • Ensure compliance of the Arconic’s quality systems standards include Change Control, Corrective Actions, Document Control, etc… 
  • Develop, implements, and maintain our product quality testing and evaluation processes  
  • Unlock synergies between locations through leading information sharing and technical transfer across the Quality Process Networks. 
  • Coordinate maintenance and continuous improvement of the 3rd party certifications (ISO, QS, NADCAP, IATF) 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with outside technical bodies and colleagues in other companies and in the aluminum industry to enable appropriate information interchange. 

Basic Qualifications – 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering 
  • At least 10 years of experience in manufacturing industry with 5 years working with Quality Systems 
  • Working experience with either AS9000, ISO9000, IATF 16949, or NADCAP Standards

Preferred Qualifications – 

  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Material Science 
  • 10 years of experience in aluminum industry
  • Leadership experience
