Vice President, Human Resources, Asia Pacific

Overview:

 

The VP, HR APJ provides strategic guidance and leadership to all business units in the delivery of all HR services to internal client groups to drive outstanding business performance, underpinned by our shared values. The VP partners closely with senior business leaders to drive the human capital agenda, consult on critical talent decisions and achieve operational excellence for the business. This position will serve as a trusted advisor on all HR issues and as partners to the business in hiring, developing and retaining the best talent while overseeing the development and implementation of all Human Resource strategies for the APJ region.

The VP, HR APJ serves as a member of the senior HR leadership team reporting directly to the EVP and Chief Human Resources Officer. This role will be a liaison with senior level management within the organization and the HR function within the organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage a team of senior HR business partners, enabling them to drive results based on business goals and strategies, by defining and executing specific people-focused initiatives, including talent-related initiatives and employee development programs in conjunction with the HR Centers of Excellence (COEs).

  • Build credible relationships with key management, business stakeholders and peers globally by combining commercial and HR expertise to add value to the business.

  • Provide guidance and challenge senior leadership and management to ensure they effectively manage change within the organization, such as department reorganizations, leadership changes, role restructuring, mergers and acquisitions.

  • Partner with HR COEs, including Talent Management, Compensation & Benefits, and HR Operations to deliver effective human resources initiatives and achieve organizational goals and objectives.

  • Support all business units to provide alignment of performance goals and objectives and execute the organization’s evaluation and compensation process annually.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the vision, purpose and strategy of the business and how this aligns with our HR strategy

  • Use data, metrics and internal / external trends to arrive at insights and structure HR projects and activities

  • Partner with Diversity and Inclusion to support organizational initiatives that promote the value of diversity and inclusion in order to gain a competitive business advantage.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of APJ region and global human resource programs and adjust strategies and plans to meet changing organizational needs and direction.

  • Lead the organization’s change management efforts.

Qualifications:

 

Qualified candidates should possess the following experience:

  • 10-15+ years progressive HR experience required (distribution/ logistics industry experience across Asia-Pacific/Japan including India, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, etc. is preferred).

  • Successful operation in a large, complex organization, including the ability to operate in a shared service environment, leveraging resources and expertise in the COEs to achieve results.

  • Demonstrated success in establishing an HR strategy that supports organizational goals and objectives, including the development and management of a team of HR business partners across a global enterprise.

  • Excellent consultation skills, including the ability to work with several layers of management to discern challenges and opportunities and arrive at effective, responsive solutions

  • Experience working across cultures and in a matrixed environment strongly preferred

  • Ability to execute companywide initiatives with excellence in a fast-paced, global collaborative environment, commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.

  • Possess strong leadership skills with a willingness to lead, create new ideas, and be assertive.

  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills, driving tasks to completion.

  • Must demonstrate strong managerial courage, have the ability to balance the needs of the business with the needs of colleagues, and be willing to voice unpopular opinions, even if those opinions are at times met with resistance.

  • MBA or Advanced Degree and PHR/SPHR preferred
