Description - External

Responsible for the accurate and timely registration of patients into the hospital’s inpatient, outpatient, emergency department areas with a professional and courteous manner. High intense area that requires Customer Service Training with continuing education throughout the year.

  • Observes professional ethics in maintaining confidential information concerning the financial, personal, medical or employment status of patients/families at JPMC.
  • Must follow and enforce accepted safety practices for patients and hospital.
  • Must report safety hazards and initiate appropriate action.
  • Must participate in safety instructional programs.
  • Performs registration of patients by:
  • Obtaining personal information
  • Informing patients of billing procedures
  • Obtaining insurance information and approval of bill.
  • Obtaining consents for treatment
  • Informing patients on their Rights
  • Obtaining advance directive information and copies for record when available.
  • Verifying of insurance information
  • Must perform switchboard duties at night.
  • Monitors emergency alarm system.
  • Maintains patient privacy during the registration process.
  • Must display a professional, friendly, and courteous manner at all times.
  • Report any unusual incidents/patient concerns to supervisor timely.
  • Must complete mandatory customer service training upon hire.
  • Mandatory customer service training will be required 4 times a year.
  • Must comply with mandatory Customer Service guidelines as outlined in evaluation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications - External

1-3 years previous experience in hospital setting preferred. High school Diploma or GED required. Basic skills required include; organizational, customer relations, math, grammar/spelling, typing, computer training, the ability to follow written and oral direction, and the ability to read write speak, and understand English.
