Quality Assurance Engineer

Tenneco Athens, AL (Onsite) Full-Time

JOB DUTIES:                                        Ensure Quality systems are implemented, maintained, and are followed to ensure all customer expectations are met. Participate in Advanced Quality Planning (AQP) for products and processes in assigned areas. Regulate and update the process quality control documents, including Control Plans, Incoming Inspection Controls, Product and Process Inspection Plans, Measurement System Work Instructions. Lead a cross-functional team to identify root cause analysis on all internal quality problems. Conduct corrective action follow-up, as well as lessons learned on similar processes / products. Communicate to plant personnel regarding quality related issues through Quality Awareness Bulletin (QAB), as well as promote quality awareness throughout the manufacturing facility. Lead or participate in the process of collecting, analyzing and summarizing scrap. Manage continuous review and research of product / process Quality improvements in assigned area to positively impact such indicators. Lead the Material Review Board (MRB). Analyze and dispose of quarantined material. Initiate Supplier Corrective Action Request to suppliers when required. Write and update standard operational procedures including special characteristics that control Quality Assurance and Measurement Systems. Develop and maintain quality standardization tools and visual aids. Provide training to employees in assigned areas to improve QOS. Active participation on Internal, customer, and IATF 16949 Audits. Quality planning, assurance and implementation associated with engineering changes (ECRs). Maintain Layered Process Audits (LPA) and Error-Proofing Validation (EPV) lists in assigned areas.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:                Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely-related engineering discipline.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:               Five (5) years of experience as Quality Engineer or Quality Coordinator

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:             The required experience must have been in the automotive parts manufacturing industry, must have involved application of automotive industry-specific standards and IATF 16949, and must have involved quality engineering in manufacturing for cylinder head gaskets, exhaust gaskets and dynamic seals for original equipment for major automotive manufacturers in the United States.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:              Up to 5% domestic travel for customer meetings.
