The Nutrition Services Supervisor position is not just a job, it's a career path with the opportunity to lead staff in providing great care and service to our patients and employees, ensuring great outcomes.

This full time position creates and implements menus for patient meals and employee cafeteria.

Assures menus are delivered, checked, and picked up.

Supervises Cafeteria operation during the lunch period to ensure it runs in a smooth, efficient manner. Assists staff in preparing additional food when necessary.

Supervises and ensures cash controls for the department are followed; prepares deposit slips and cash deposits.

Meets with all staff on a regular basis to make food preparation assignments.

Keeps recipe book current for all meals, trains staff in proper food preparation practices.

Meets with Lead Cook to go over food prep needs for the next day.

Prepares daily and weekend cleaning assignments and assures cleaning is completed, and work surfaces are sanitized.

Supervises preparation of salad bar, patient meals, and all caterings.

Checks in food order, assures the proper product was delivered, dates food, and assures food is put away in a proper manner. Checks food dates on a monthly basis and discards outdated or questionable food items.

Keeps track of department meal counts and prepares portions of the monthly statistic sheets.

Ensures staff check the dish machine temperatures are appropriate and recorded each day/night.

Supervises and trains employees in following sanitary practices, including not allowing eating and drinking in the food preparation areas.

Collaborates with Registered Dietician to ensure all special needs diets are being met.

Ensures nourishments are up to date and delivered timely and accurately.

Identifies potential food-drug interactions according to system policy and provides education based on identified needs.

Performs regular customer rounds to ensure that dietary needs are being met and complaints are resolved.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Two years of college preferred.

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. 

NM Food Handler's Card must be obtained within thirty (30) days from hire.
