JOB SUMMARY

The Global Trade Compliance Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of the Company’s trade compliance program on a global basis, reporting to the VP, Legal.  The position functions as the professional expert authority with regard to export and import laws and regulations and is responsible for ensuring that operations are carried out in compliance with relevant export/import laws and regulations. Responsibilities also include training business personnel and executing operational audits to validate compliance with governing trade laws, internal policies and procedures.  The position supports the Legal function in interacting with and responding to external regulatory and enforcement authorities in connection with registrations, inquiries and investigations.

The person in this role will also contribute to developing and maintaining a sustained and long-term continuous improvement culture and an efficient organization that consistently produces improved results while motivating and retaining its employees with high performance standards. The Global Trade Compliance Manager position will work closely with operational and commercial business teams to advise them of applicability of and changes in relevant export/import laws and regulations. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide all round global export/import compliance advice to the business at all levels, including as part of the tendering process
  • Oversee development, implementation and execution of export / import compliance program on a global basis (including but not limited to USA, Europe and UK)
  • Develop, review and update Company export and import compliance policies, manuals and operating procedures
  • Review and validate Company Harmonized Tariff schedule product classifications
  • Conduct periodic training of Company personnel with regard to export and import laws, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Manage and assist with BIS, OFAC, ITAR, SPIRE and NRC license applications
  • Implement trade compliance software controls in Company accounting and order management systems, including daily screenings
  • Develop and implement auditing methodology and conduct period audits to test Company compliance with export and import regulations and Company procedures
  • Prepare Anti-boycott reports and DDTC registration renewals and modifications
  • Develop and implement EAR, ITAR and EU Dual use specific procedures for product lines offering CCL, USML and EU Dual use products and services and conduct training
  • Assist with internal investigations, preparing voluntary disclosures and responding to regulatory inquiries and enforcement actions
  • Assist with merger/acquisition due diligence relating to trade compliance
  • Partner with external counsel where necessary to achieve strategic business outcomes

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proven track record of meeting commitments with the highest standards of ethics and integrity
  • Expertise with U.S., European and UK export and import regulations, including EAR, OFAC, ITAR and CBP
  • Ability to gain knowledge and understanding of other non-US/Europe/UK trade regulations
  • Working knowledge of laws and regulations impacting the Company
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Pro-active approach to work and an excellent team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of MS Office

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.  Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum eight years’ trade compliance experience
  • Experience conducting trade compliance training
  • Experience executing trade compliance audit programs
  • Licensed Customs Broker preferred
  • Experience with trade management software preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal office environment with travel to global Celeros Flow Technology manufacturing locations as required.
