Arconic is currently in search of a Unit 2 Manager to join our AEX Business Unit in Lafayette, IN.

This position reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for the efficient operation of the Ingot and Lithium departments; these departments endeavor to engage in the production of aluminum and aluminum/lithium alloy ingot at the lowest cost while meeting quality and deliver commitments. The principal emphasis of this position is to develop and motivate a team of staff and subordinates to effectively manage goals related to safety, quality, cost, and delivery.

Essential Functions: The Unit 2 Manager within AEX requires technical and interpersonal skills essential to teamwork. 

General duties include but are not limited to

  • Accountable for Environmental, Health, and Safety results, productivity, improvements, employee development, maximizing the value of diversity, and customer delivery through implementation of Lean Manufacturing of Arconic Business Systems principles (including Daily Management, TPM, 5S, etc.) for the department. 
  • Ensures consistent implementation and execution of policies and systems in order to guarantee customer (internal and external) expectations are met at the lowest cost and always with safety at the forefront of every activity. 
  • Ensures the execution of any of the financial goals and expectations set for each respective year. 
  • Responsible for planning and sometimes leading Kaizens, TPM, and safety events in their areas. 
  • Overall managerial responsibility for all production and maintenance salaried and hourly employees in the department, including production/maintenance superintendents, production/maintenance supervisors, mechanical/electrical technicians/engineers, and production operators. 
Basic Qualifications  
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience leading a production department(s) in a manufacturing environment 
  • This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Qualified candidate must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the relevant government agency. Business demands may require employer to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
Preferred Qualifications 
  • 5+ years of experience leading a production department(s) in an extrusion environment
  • 10+ years of experience leading a production department(s) in a manufacturing environment
