Job Description

Support Center - Irving

The transportation coordinator is the central point of contact for DCs, Stores , Carriers and Vendors regarding first level transportation issues. This position will support the transportation team to ensure smooth flow of shipments across the DCs for Michaels companies.

Major Activities

Shipment Coordination

  • Daily release of vendor shipments.
  • Management of supplicate IBI shipments.
  • Creation of special shipments from Support Center.
  • Manage tender rejection on all outbound store deliveries and inbound vendor loads, and address issues as needed.
  • Create 3PBH’s for dedicated route backhauls.
  • Monitor and fix unplanned shipment reports.
  • Provide outbound load trailer numbers for hybrid and store delivery loads to carriers.
  • Creation of manual CSO shipments requested.
  • Create add on shipments from cleanup for seasonal events.

DC Coordination

  • Communication of static wave changes to DCs and updating shared file (delivery stop timing for stores) – monthly.

Store Coordination

  • Creation and communication of new store deliveries.
  • Communication of late store deliveries or delays.
  • Daily release of store orders.
  • Fix loads daily on invalid rating report prior to running optimization for stores.

Carrier/Vendor Relations Coordination

  • Communication of service numbers to carriers.
  • Research missed pick up report to identify issues.
  • Other duties as assigned
     

Minimum Special Certifications or technical skills

  • Computer skills to include Excel, PowerPoint, and Access database  

Minimum Type of experience the job requires

  • 2-3 years experience in similar role

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Familiar with logistics and production planning concepts
