Job Description

It takes powerful technology to connect our brands and partners with an audience of nearly 900 million. Whether you’re looking to write mobile app code, engineer the servers behind our massive ad tech stacks, or develop algorithms to help us process trillions of data points a day, what you do here will have a huge impact on our business—and the world. Want in?

Under the office of the CTO, the Yahoo Platforms Engineering (YPE) group enables all of the Yahoo verticals to develop and deliver the best possible products to our customers globally with the highest standards. Yahoo’s Platforms Engineering organization creates modern, secure, and efficient software platforms to power all of Yahoo’s brands at scale. Within YPE, the Cloud Governance team is accountable for large-scale full lifecycle compliance management areas supporting Cost, Security, and Yahoo best practices in AWS, GCP, and Azure.

Do you crave the challenge of translating cutting-edge technology into actionable product strategies? As a Technical Product Strategy Manager, you'll be the bridge between the business vision and the technical execution, ensuring our products leverage the latest advancements to achieve market dominance.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Cloud Platforms, the Technical Product Strategy Manager will lead the product strategy and roadmap of our products and services, including observability, taxonomy, cloud and AI governance (Security, FinOps, Best practices), and optimization tools.

Here's what this exciting role entails:

  • Tech Savvy Visionary: You'll possess a deep understanding of current and emerging technologies, constantly evaluating their potential to propel our products forward.

  • Market Mastermind: In-depth market research and competitor analysis are your forte. You'll identify new opportunities and market needs, translating them into innovative technical solutions that create a competitive edge.

  • Strategic Architect: Crafting a product roadmap that seamlessly integrates technology and business objectives is your specialty. You'll define the product's technical direction, ensuring features are feasible, scalable, and aligned with long-term goals.

  • Data-Driven Decisions: Leveraging data analytics is key. You'll interpret user behavior and product performance metrics to inform strategic choices regarding technical features, integrations, and resource allocation.

  • Bridge Between Worlds: Collaboration is king. You'll effectively communicate the technical aspects of the product vision to stakeholders across departments, fostering a strong connection between engineering, design, marketing, and sales teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and drive the long-term product vision and strategy for our products.

  • Lead the ideation, prioritization, and delivery of new features and capabilities on the platform. Partner closely with engineering teams to define roadmaps.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across application, infrastructure, and business teams to identify customer needs and turn them into compelling product solutions.

  • Conduct organizational analysis, customer research, and data analysis to inform product feature enhancement and innovation opportunities.

  • Oversee the execution across agile development teams to bring new capabilities to market.

  • Continuously monitor technology trends to identify opportunities to advance our capabilities.

  • Optimize the customer experience by gathering user feedback and iterating on the developer experience.

  • Evangelize the product value proposition, guiding the platforms from a technical infrastructure play towards a premium customer-focused suite of product solutions.

  • Build awareness among internal and external developer communities.

  • Develop pricing strategy, packaging, and licensing models for new product capabilities and features.

  • Establish key performance metrics and analyze data to inform product optimization efforts.

  • Mentor and lead a team of product managers towards a shared product vision.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years experience in a product management role

  • Prior product experience and knowledge in observability, FinOps and cloud infrastructure

  • Strong technical background within a technology organization

  • Ability to understand the needs of diverse customers and stakeholders

  • Adept at synthesizing complex concepts and articulating simple solutions to stakeholders at all levels

  • Excellent communication, influence, and collaboration skills across different organizational levels (including executive leadership)

  • Experience taking an iterative, data-driven approach to product development

  • Passion for infrastructure modernization and enabling developer velocity
