Arconic is currently in search of a Takeoff Technician to join our Kawneer business in Harrisonburg, VA.

Summary

This position reviews complex architectural, project specific shop drawings, and installation instructions; and then uses these inputs to create a materials list to ensure project parts are fabricated and shipped to complete customer orders.

This role is a part of our Technical Services Team (drafting, engineering, and material take off).  This position reviews shop drawings and installation instructions; and then uses these inputs to create a materials list to ensure project parts are fabricated and shipped to complete customer orders.

Key Challenges / Responsibilities:

  • Reading project specific job shop drawings and installation instructions
  • Verify material requirements for complete order
  • Prepare documentation for manufacturing as required
  • Verify dimensions and angles required for product installations
  • Release to manufacturing verified amounts of manufactured products and quantities, and vendor supplied products and quantities
  • Work safely in a manner that protects and promotes the health and well-being of the individual and the environment
  • Work with project managers, drafters and engineers to meet deadlines for jobs to ship on time and in full (OTIF)
  • Maintain Takeoff files and records, and ensures accuracy on take offs submitted

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities to be Successful:

  • Good communication skills
  • Demonstrated computer skills and the ability to learn new software quickly (Word, Excel, AutoCAD, and KaluCAD)
  • Knowledge of or the ability to learn Kawneer systems (curtain wall, store front entrances, etc)
  • Good math skills including geometry and trigonometry.
  • Demonstrated ability to read shop drawings and installation instructions.
  • Pursuing education in drafting, architectural engineering or related field
  • Strong attention to detail and meeting deadlines
  • Well-rounded knowledge of manufacturing, installation, and glazing processes

Basic Qualifications:

  • HS diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available at this time.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree from an accredited institution
  • 2+ years of industry experience
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Ability to read shop drawings and understand installation instructions.
