Job Description

Yahoo is a global media and tech company that connects people to their passions. We reach hundreds of millions of people around the world, bringing them closer to what they love—from finance and sports, to shopping, gaming and news—with the trusted products, content and tech that fuel their day. For partners, we provide a full-stack platform for businesses to amplify growth and drive more meaningful connections across advertising, search and media.

The Merchandising Team leads commercialization efforts for supply on Yahoo DSP. Our mission is to proactively anticipate the needs of buyers and the teams servicing them, enable superior access to supply and audiences for buyers, maximize monetization for publishers, and create ease of execution across all parties. As a Merchandising Strategist, you will carry that mission out by connecting supply and demand with a data-driven, knowledge-based approach. In doing so, you will drive customer and partner satisfaction while driving revenue growth for Yahoo Advertising. You will play a critical role in translating the benefits of our supply opportunities to internal sellers and external buyers, and will be given the opportunity to use your ideas and creativity to unleash the potential of our full suite of supply opportunities across Yahoo DSP.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and update inventory merchandising collateral that clearly articulates the value of supply available on the Yahoo DSP (through both DTP and partner exchanges) to internal teams and external buyers.

  • Collaborate with Publisher Partnerships and Exchange Partnerships teams to understand new and existing supply opportunities across all supply platforms. Simultaneously, absorb data-driven analysis and voice of the customer insights from internal stakeholders on buyers' supply wants and needs.

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert in one or more emerging formats.

  • Vet always-on deal opportunities from Exchange partners and assist in vetting net new supply integration opportunities against a transparent framework. Surface and document decisions.

  • Curate, build and propagate public/evergreen deals that offer instant access, maximal efficiency, and unique buying opportunities.

  • Manage a seasonal and tentpole event calendar to be shared with partners; package and proliferate relevant opportunities in advance of seasonal sales cycles.

  • Manage a rhythm of one-off and ongoing inventory resources for internal sales teams and external buyers, including newsletters, inventory catalog, inventory spotlights, Yahoo DSP public deals listings, Pendo alerts, supply one-sheets, PPT slides and more.

  • Build verticalized supply strategy playbooks, in partnership with Industry Leads and Publisher Partnerships.

  • Identify and satisfy broad sales enablement needs as related to education on emerging formats, new deal types and/or activation methods.

  • Perform analysis on inventory and highlight key trends for inclusion in merchandising materials.

  • Stay up to date on competitive landscape and industry trends to ensure messaging is differentiated and aligned with the current needs of the marketplace and buyers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in a relevant field.

  • Top-notch written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate ideas and data points clearly and concisely.

  • Programmatic advertising experience, ideally across display, video and advanced TV, including overall landscape, industry trends, and ability to evaluate supply quality, differentiation and value proposition across formats.

  • Detail focused; ability to cross reference multiple data sources, ensure public published data is approved and correct.

  • Ability to think creatively and solve new challenges.

  • Customer-centric mindset. Relentlessly proactive, focused on ways to grow deal revenue.

  • Team player in driving growth results combined with a positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with both the demand side and supply side of the programmatic ecosystem.

  • Familiarity with Advanced TV (ATV), Digital Out Of Home (DOOH), Audio and/or App supply formats.

  • Experience with collateral design and PowerPoint/Google Slides expertise.

  • Experience using data to conduct analysis and derive insights.

  • Ability to manage initiatives with stakeholders across multiple business areas. Strong organizational, project management and time management skills.
