Position Summary:

The Supply Planner is responsible for the execution of an inventory plan for their assigned product lines, based on demand, actual orders, cumulative lead times, variability and available inventory.  The role defines the appropriate inventory levels optimize service, working capital and costs. This role is hands-on as it relates to SKU specific execution and drives the creation of a finished goods inventory and forecast.  This role is accountable to setting and adjusting planning parameters in accordance with established standard methodologies and overall demand variability and supplier (internal & external) performance.  This role may include coordination with the plants, purchasing, distribution, transportation and finance teams to create the appropriate capacity, production, inventory, procurement and transportation plans.  It includes the development, adherence management, and regular adjustment of the supply plan to meet evolving customer demand.  Primary KPI accountability for overall Material Availability and its impact on OTIF, Inventory Dollars, Days on Hand, and Vendor Shipping Performance for assigned product lines.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Develop and execute an optimized supply plan that meets customer demand at optimal inventory levels
  • Place purchase orders, expedite/de-expedite order as necessary and maintain visual pull inventory.
    • Includes ability to understand requirements and drivers impacting pull/push of inventory
    • Ensure continuous and efficient supply of finished goods products to customers through supply-demand balancing leadership
  • Analyze and adjust inventory levels (safety stocks; excess/obsolete material, etc.)
  • Manage supply base (vendor performance, open order report, lead time reduction, etc.).
  • Demonstrate a streamlined planning approach of management by exception and drive escalation of critical issues when required
  • Promptly reports and escalates issues impacting business related KPIs (i.e. excess inventory, fill rate, etc.)
  • Quickly and thoroughly review large amounts of data for effective problem solving
    • Proposes possible outcomes outlining risk and opportunities associated for quick decision making
  • Perform thoroughly related duties and assignments that are consistent with knowledge and training.

Qualifications - Required Skills:

  • Superior organization, coordination, and planning skills
  • Ability to influence and drive solutions across the supply chain
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated high aptitude for solving problems
  • Excellent cross functional, customer and supplier relationship management
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical supply chain needs in a clear, concise manner to the business
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and requests, make quick & sound decisions and respond with a sense of urgency
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ERP Systems (SAP preferred)
  • Working knowledge and understanding of financial concepts and operational KPIs
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, and presentation
  • Superior process, analytical and problem-solving skills – apply / execute formal techniques
  • Demonstrated competency in the MS Office Suite of products, especially MS Excel

Desirable Educational / Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, or Industrial Engineering
  • ASCM (Association of Supply Chain Management) CPIM certification preferred
  • 2-5 years applicable, progressive supply chain planning experience;
  • Operations experience with knowledge in capacity, master & production planning a plus

Location / Travel:

  • Position location will be based in Smyrna, Tennessee or Southfield, Michigan
  • Up to 10-15% Travel – As Needed
